Episode 1
The Glacier Express connects the Swiss towns of St Moritz and Zermatt. Travelling over treacherous gorges, alongside picturesque rivers and towns, and through huge mountain ranges, it is a marvel of engineering success.

From Winnipeg to Churchill, in Manitoba, the route travels through grasslands, Canada's Boreal Forest and almost into the frozen Arctic Circle. It's a constant task for engineers to overcome snow, ice and temperatures as low as minus 45.
Episode 3
In the heat of Mexico, the prestigious luxury El Chepe train is a wonder of Mexican engineering. It has taken almost 100 years to build and perfect the the route through the world's largest canyon region, Copper Canyon.
Episode 4
One of only a few steeply graded narrow guage lines in the world, The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway connects New Jalpaiguri, Eastern India, to Darjeeling at the base of the Himalayas. It features a century old steam loco, amongst others.
Episode 5
The Ghan, is Australia's most luxurious train. It crosses from Adelaide to Darwin. In a 2 day trip, it experiences heat, risk of animal collisions, and weather events. A virtual army of engineers run the Ghan and its 3,000 kms of track.
Episode 6
The Bergen line runs from Bergen to Oslo, in Norway. Along the fjords of Western Norway, up to the Hardanger, and through deep forests, it takes a team of people to keep the line open in snow, wildlife and repairing damaged trains.
