Hearing an intruder Rhona accidentally shoots Jackie through the door but with hitman Benny lurking outside they call an ambulance, claiming to have found her and escape from Benny by riding with Jackie to the hospital, where DI Wilton assumes the girls were the intended targets. But with Benny in pursuit and aware that there is a mole in the police the pair go on the run again and break into a caravan for the night. Next morning they find it is attached to a car speeding up the motorway.

When the caravan comes to rest miles from Swindon the girls discover that the elderly couple in the front seats are having an affair and agree to mutual silence. Meanwhile DI Wilton suspects that Sergeant Forrest is the mole whilst troubled that Appraisal is missing. Gang leader Whelan gathers his men to upbraid Benny for letting Rhona and Leanne escape but praising DJ for killing Appraisal. Aware that Forrest was responsible for Ian's death his men pay the Forrests a deadly visit.

Convinced that she is pregnant Leanne returns with Rhona to confront him over his involvement with the Whelan gang. As they reveal their true identities he agrees to hide them. News of Mrs Forrest's murder leads DI Wilton to realize tat Forrest was the mole and questions DJ over Appraisal's disappearance. As a result DJ effects a plan to frame a shopkeeper who crossed him for the other boy's death whilst Benny visits Jackie in hospital and finds she drives a hard bargain.

The girls plot with Patrick how to plant the gun in their possession at Whelan's pub but Rhona discovers that Leanne is not pregnant and fears that Patrick will not want to help as a result. DJ continues his plan to frame the shop-keeper for Appraisal's murder but DI Wilton discovers incriminating evidence on his phone and a link to Whelan.

Aware that she is not pregnant but not too unhappy Leanne joins with Rhona to disguise themselves and join Patrick at Ian's wake at Whelan's pub, where they will plant the gun. Leanne causes a distraction allowing Rhona to put the gun in Whelan's bedroom but Rhona has to hide when she hears him coming. Jackie gets the better of Benny but DI Wilton is onto DJ and Whelan is onto Patrick. Two chases ensue with Leanne literally bumping into DJ.
