Sensible Rhona and her dizzy friend Leanne observe a drive-by gangland killing and, when their names are accidentally leaked to the suspect's lawyer, they are put on a witness protection scheme and renamed Sarah and Lisa. This presents difficulties when they have no National Insurance numbers and an annoyed Rhona decides to bargain with the gangsters. However when danger looms Leanne's acting skills save the day.

Leanne realizes that she left her handbag - containing a loyalty card bearing her real name - at a party given by a man called Patrick, seen in a photograph with the killer. Going to retrieve it she learns that he restores antique Teddy bears and, much to Rhona's annoyance, they end up in the cask. Meanwhile it is revealed to the audience how foolish police sergeant Forrest was tricked by the criminals using a false name on a sex chat line into giving up the girls' identities.

Episode 3

Whilst Leanne fits in with other estate dwellers, led by the fearsome Jackie, Rhona feels out of place so Leanne tells everybody she is deaf, which works until she is introduced to a genuinely deaf person. Thus the girls put Plan B into action, claiming that they are a Lesbian couple, a ploy which gains them acceptance. Elsewhere the teen-aged gangsters fall out but Sergeant Forrest receives a sinister and insistent visitor.

Episode 4

Haunted by killing the girls' neighbour Mrs Hobbs gang member Appraisal becomes withdrawn and finds religion but his mother's notifying the police that he has taken in the lady's cat leads to a visit from the police. Meanwhile Leanne meets up with ex-boyfriend Patrick to end the relationship but finds that the antique teddy bear he has given her has a very sinister content.

Episode 5

Sergeant Forrest is confronted by gang leader Ian but overpowers him and rings the girls to warn them their location has been discovered whilst the police let Appraisal go though somebody else gets to him. Leanne and Rhona, having found the gun in the teddy bear, decide to take it to the police but are prevented by a knock on the door and a shock discovery on the door-step.
