Ritchie tries to warn Knox that someone in the Pilgrims is causing harm to the movement, and once Knox learns that Calvin has been killing for the movement, Knox makes it clear that his only intention was to sell a message to make money. Calvin makes a final stand for the Pilgrims when he invades the home of one of the talk show guests who opposed Knox and takes him hostage.

After Frank's wife throws him out, he crashes at Vinnie's place. During his stay, Frank notices Vinnie's dependence on painkillers and becomes concerned, so he calls in their superior. Vinnie is told he is overdue for a physical and has to get one done, or be forced to resign. While Vinnie's records are prepared at the hospital, a patient from Vinnie's past gets his hands on the records and alters the database showing that Vinnie must stay for a 48-hour psychiatric evaluation. Vinnie's physical goes well, but when he goes back to the admitting station the nurse sees that the database says he is violent and must stay for the evaluation. Vinnie goes into a rage and must be restrained and drugged by the staff. The drugs cause him to go in and out of nightmares where he is confronted by Sonny Steelgrave. When he is conscious, Vinnie meets Taylor, another resident of the ward, and learns about who else is there; he also has a blurry meeting with the patient who altered his records. Even though Vinnie tells staff that he is a federal agent, nobody believes him, and while Taylor doubts Vinnie's claims at first, Taylor eventually helps Vinnie before the staff can do more harm.
