Using 40 cameras and 12 mobile vans, this live Sunday afternoon program broadcast events in North America, the Caribbean and Europe. The show alternated with other programs during its run. Among it's many segments were live broadcasts from Havana, Cuba, Bimini, London and the first live shots of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The show was first introduced on Monday, June 27, 1955 as part of "Producers' Showcase", and continued on Monday evenings thru the summer of 1955. Regular Sunday broadcasts did not begin until the fall of 1955.. On the Sunday, October 1955 premiere the topic was 'A Sunday in Autumn'.

"Flag Stop at Malta Bend" tells the story of America's railroad trains. The program focuses on the small town of Malta Bend, Mo., where train tracks converge from all directions. Other highlights . . . Baltimore: The historic 1831 race between Peter Cooper's "Tom Thumb" engine and a horse-drawn carriage is re-created. Washington, D.C.: Cameras on a special sightseeing train record some of Washington's landmarks. New York City: The activity in Pennsylvania Station is seen. San Gabriel Cal.: We visit movie-director Ward Kimball, who has set up a private railroad in his back yard. Sierra Valley, Cal.: Viewers are taken for a ride on the California Zephyr, a speedy streamliner.
