At What Price

Thu, Oct 17, 201343 mins

Peter faces prosecution for murder, which could end his FBI career even if he were acquitted. As Elizabeth urges Neal to save him at any cost, Neal is contacted by, Curtis Hagan, a.k.a. The Dutchman, whom Neal helped Peter convict of forgery in their first case together. Hagan has influence over Peter's prosecutor and promises the charges dismissed if Neal first brings a convincing fake audio confession from his father then provides a favor. Hagan's favor: steal a collection of rare Welsh gold coins from a secure building. Neal succeeds at both tasks with the aid of Mozzie and his devices (one to fool the anklet's signal into making Neal appear to be at home). Complicating matters: Neal and Peter's last case together is the coin robbery Neal just pulled off. Only later does Neal realize he's walked into a trap. The Dutchman filmed his heist to blackmail him into destroying FBI evidence against him. Meanwhile, Peter, exonerated and promoted to head of the NYC White Collar Crime office, smells a rat, gives Neal a new anklet, and promises him a new handler from outside the office.

Hagan, free after his re-trial, refuses to let Neal off the hook. Neal gets 48 hours to steal one chapter of a mysterious codex (ancient book) on display at a museum. Neal befriends a museum worker named Rebecca to steal her key. Neal alerts Siegel to a rumor that the museum is about to be robbed. Peter authorizes a stakeout. Mozzie disables the security cameras of the museum and Zev enters. Neal is delayed when Peter nostalgically joins the stakeout. Neal persuades Peter to leave, enters, and replaces the chapter with Mozzie's forgery. Zev trips the alarms but both escape. Neal and Peter find Zev's prints at the crime scene, allowing the FBI to arrest Zev and recover the painting. Neal gives the book chapter to Hagan after making a copy, so he and Mozzie may figure out why Hagan wanted it.
