Episode 1

Day of Judgment

After a holdup by Eli Fisher, Jim Hardie is on his trail but finds there is a second strange and dirty man on his own trail. He tries to sneak upon the other man's camp taking the man's rifle, but when he takes it the other man calmly tells him to come on in which he does. After asking for his rifle back, the other man offers coffee and introduces himself as Wade Cather. Cather is also after Fisher and he believes following Jim is the quickest way to find him given Jim's success. Upon hearing Cather is not after Jim himself, he leaves to travel at night. He tracks Fisher to an abandoned town where Cather has followed him. Although Cather shoots a partner of Fisher saving Jim's life, he is still leery of Cather who it turns out was a prisoner under Fisher during the war and wants revenge. Fisher has a girlfriend, Verna, as well who tries to mediate a surrender but Fisher is afraid of Cather.

Angry Town

When the Utah Kid stole $20,000 from Wells Fargo, Jim Hardie is sent to track him down to recover the stolen money. Jim following the horse tracks of the Utah Kid finds the horse at Zeb Baker's farm outside of Miles City. Zeb tells Jim he has claimed the horse as he was with the posse that hung the Utah Kid the night before for killing a local man - Mr. Warren. Jim informs him that he has no interest in the horse; only the $20,000 he stole and was carrying. In Miles City he takes his horse to the stable where Dr. Howard recognizes Jim's voice. They are friends from long ago. Upon hearing Jim's story Dr. Howard tells him he was one of the six men in the posse led by Sheriff Paul Brick. Sheriff Brick denies seeing the money but suddenly both he and Jim are searching for the money as each suspect is looked at.

Doc Dawson

When the Wells Fargo freight driver Ed Matton goes missing, Jim Hardie is sent to investigate. The trail leads to southern Utah where Jim along with the local sheriff follow the trail to the overturned freight wagon and Ed Matton's body nearby. Jim doing an inventory of the contents still there finds the only things stolen is a dental chair and dental supplies which doesn't make a lot of sense. They return to the sheriff's office where the sheriff tells Jim that fact made him think of an old man named Doc Dawson who opened shop a couple of weeks earlier but mainly talks about his memoirs. Jim has the sudden sinking feeling it is Bob Dawson who is paroled to Jim and he hasn't heard from. When Jim goes to confront "Doc" Dawson, he finds Dawson is pulling people's gold filled teeth for the gold. Dawson denies killing Ed saying the equipment was left at his doorstep.

The Kinfolk

Len Lassiter has stopped to make camp when Matt Gray sneaks up on him. Len tries to stop Matt by saying Len is unarmed but it is a ruse as he goes for his rifle which Matt shoots out of his hands. Matt then shoots Len but only wounds him. As Matt approaches Len shoots and kills Matt. Later, Jim Hardie finding the body takes it to a nearby town which he learns is populated by mostly Lassiters. He turns the body over to Marshal Tom Barnes. Jim tells tom that he is on the trail of Len Lassiter who is wanted for three killings and some robberies in Texas where Len worked as a shotgun for Wells Fargo for a short time. The Marshal tells Jim he is more aware of Jim and the issues than Jim realized. The Marshal is engaged to Polly Lassiter who had been going out with Len. When Len shows up both Tom and Jim think he killed Matt Gray once Jim learned who the dead man was. Len killed his son. However, taking Len in means bucking the Lassiter family.

Episode 5

A Study in Petticoats

Jake Hoover has hired Wells Fargo to ship a package worth at least $10,000 to Tiffany's. Until the contents are appraised, Wells Fargo limited its value to $10,000 and placed the package with Jim Hardie to guard. He is on a stage with a beautiful woman and an older girl , age 17, who is also quite beautiful and one man, the renown gunfighter Win Partridge. An attempt is made to hold up the stage but Jim and Win repel the thieves although the shotgun guard is badly wounded. Jim and the young girl, Stephanie Carrie, who jumped off the stage are left stranded and she has a strong crush on Jim. In town Jim learns the older woman is Jake Hoover's daughter, Norma Hoover, who is new to the west but she wants to over control of the package. Jim tries to warn her of the dangers but she is determined.

Episode 6

All That Glitters

Wells Fargo is sending Jim Hardie to investigate an unusual theft of $50,000 in gold. They do not know when or where the gold was stolen. Sam Tubs, the agent, checked the gold before he put it in the safe and then locked it up in the company safe to which only he knows the combination. The next day he put it on the stage and they know it wasn't touched on the stage but the gold was missing upon arrival. Jim has a lot of faith in the agent, Sam Tubs, but is alarmed when he hears Joe Brass is the new marshal. Brass went to prison once as he is the best safe cracker in the territory. Brass who lives with his daughter seems to be changed yet hints of his old life still show. When Jim receives an anonymous note about the Hollister Bank, a new possibility opens up but how did the safe get opened?

Run for the River

Jim Hardie is escorting Ira Kyle to Santa Fe for a trial as he tried to rob a Wells Fargo station and wounded a Wells Fargo employee who is a friend of Jim. It has been raining so Jim decides they will stop in the small town of Red Bluff overnight so Ira will be in a dry cell and Jim in a dry hotel room. After Ira dismounts his horse, the local Marshal suddenly attacks Ira forcing Jim to break up the fight. The town of Red Bluff has a $1,000 reward on Ira Kyle for supposedly killing a town hero who was trying to keep a local wood mill open. Everyone including the Mayor and Marshal want to hang Ira the next day. Jim is able to quell fervor that evening. However, a visit from Pop Kyle, Ira's father, has Jim wondering. He says Ira is innocent of killing Tom Benson and then someone gives Ira a gun allowing him to escape.

Leading Citizen

In south Texas a Wells Fargo stagecoach and six horses are missing although the driver and guard were released. Jim Hardie has been sent to find them. He finds himself in San Tomas which is miles from any Wells Fargo route but the coach is there sitting in a back alley. While Jim inspects it, a rotund gentleman introduces himself as Mayor Bodie Seaton after walking over from a group of men Jim recognizes as several outlaws - some he jailed himself. When asked about the coach, he suggests Jim talk to the sheriff in the saloon. There Bodie puts on a badge introducing himself now as the sheriff - a man of many talents. Jim's attempt to ask again about the coach is interrupted by a beautiful blond entering who Bodie introduces as his fiancee. Bodie likes Jim but the outlaws have other ideas for Jim.

The Killing of Johnny Lash

The eastern offices of Wells Fargo made a loan to a man who died in Europe before paying back any of the loan. Part of the collateral for the loan was the "The Golden Wheel" saloon. Jim Hardie is given orders to dispose of it immediately. Jim enters the saloon after riding into town in the evening as the floor show with the young singer/dancer Nell is starting. Jim leans against the bar watching the show as a man he assumes is the manager starts to come downstairs. After the act, the man comes over to Jim to ask if he is from Wells Fargo. After replying yes Jim asks if he is the manager. He replies no, his name is Nevada and the manager, Johnny Lash, a close friend was shot and killed an hour earlier. With the Marshal having to leave town, Jim is on his own to work with Nevada and Lash's girlfriend Francine to determine who killed Johnny and robbed the safe.

The Wade Place

Jim Hardie is summoned by a saloon woman named Maria. He rides in late at night to see her. The sleeping Maria tells him a man by the name Harkins was released from prison and spent a week there. She had no control over him and found him to be a pig. He told her he was to meet a partner at the Wade Place in three days to hold up the stage and then they plan to go to Cheyenne to repeat it. Jim rides to Wade Place which was recently taken over by Well Fargo. He is met at the door with a fist to the face from Mike Ross, a Wells Fargo troubleshooter for turning around unprofitable stations. He has a grudge from a past argument at Tucson. The Wade Place includes a saloon run by Joe Wade and a general store run by brother Seth Wade. The two men feud constantly with young beautiful Laura Wade keeping them under control. They took her in at age 12 when her parents were killed by Indians. Harkins has a room at the hotel run by Laura as Jim and Mike literally fight over how to handle the situation.

Jeff Davis' Treasure

Amos Birely was recently released from prison for stealing $100,000 in gold from Wells Fargo along with three other men who were not caught. Although he has paid his debt to society, Wells Fargo still wants its money so Jim Hardie has been sent to follow him and try to locate it. He is on the trail of Birely which leads him into Apache country where Jim meets Wade Cather who saved his life in an earlier brush with an outlaw. Cather decides to accompany Jim to protect him from the Apaches when the two are ambushed by Birely. Cather keeps Birely busy as Jim works behind Birely and is forced to kill Birely when Birely draws on him. Believing the only lead to the gold is gone, Jim is recalled to headquarters. Before leaving he learns Cather is working with three men looking for the Jefferson Davis Confederate treasure. They tell Cather the amount of the treasure is really only $100,000 and they now have a map to it. This peaks Jim's interest as it sounds like the stolen money but the three men are not happy with Cather including Jim.

The Bride and the Bandit

A Wells Fargo stage is being held up by a lone holdup man. When he opens the strongbox it contains no money - only a few worthless documents. The lone passenger - a woman - faints when he starts to tell her to get out. As he leaves the robbery he kills the shotgun guard. The driver and the woman put the dead guard in the coach and ride on top on the box to town. Jim Hardie has just arrived on the trail of a man who has held up four stages. He arrives to find old friend and agent Ben Wilson dressed up as if going to church. Turns out the woman on the stage, Ellen Stevens, may be his bride to be. They have been corresponding so she is traveling there to see if they should get married. However, due to the snoopy hotel manager, Kate Wiggam, Jim learns that Ellen is not the school teacher she says she is. Furthermore, she has other information that will prove beneficial to Jim.

Episode 13

Escort to Santa Fe

Jim Hardie is suddenly sent to El Paso while in the middle of another assignment. Unknown to him he passes a group of men on the road prepared to ambush someone. In town he meets with Marshal Chaffey who shows him a letter he received with limited instructions. Jim is to wait for a Major Barkley who will arrive from a nearby fort with full instructions. Unknown to everyone the men outside of town are waiting to kill Major Barkley. After doing so, Kyle Gentry takes his papers and place in town. Meanwhile, Jim has run into an old flame in the saloon, Kate Fallon. When the Marshal introduces the Major to Jim, he notices Kate has a slight hesitation when she hears the name Major Barkley. Barkley informs the Marshall and Jim that they are to escort Juarez of Mexico to a meeting in Santa Fe with U.S. representatives on orders from President Lincoln.

Frightened Witness

Walt Corbin killed a 20 year old Wells Fargo employee during a holdup and he is about to go on trial for it. Jim Hardie has been sent to ensure the trial goes off without any problems and to help the local Sheriff. Corbin himself is sure he will get off as the two witnesses against him are local farmers who he is sure can be stopped by his gang. After talking with the Sheriff and Corbin, Jim decides to ride out to talk to the two witnesses to check on them. As he walks up to the first house shots ring out and the first witness is killed. He chases the killer for ten miles to a saloon where he is forced to kill the shooter. The second witness, Chris Matson, tells Hardie he won't testify. Unknown to Jim, two men from Corbin's gang are inside with Matson's wife.

Border Renegades

With growing trouble on the Texas - Mexico border Wells Fargo hears that guns are being shipped in via Wells Fargo illegally. Jim Hardie is sent to investigate the problem. He starts by intercepting a Wells Fargo freight wagon and checking the contents. He stops a wagon driven by Virgil McCready whose manifest says he is carrying mining equipment for the Robbins ranch. However, when he forces McCready to open a crate guns are found. Jim has to shot a second man riding along as a guard while taking McCready prisoner. They continue on to the Robbins ranch owned by the pretty Carolyn Robbins who is not home but her Mexican neighbor Felipe Borros is thee along with his hand Pepe. When Carolyn arrives, she informs Jim that the equipment is for Felipe instead of her who uses her address. When Felipe allows McCready to take his gun and then kills him, Jim's suspicions are confirmed.

Captain Scofield

As Jim Hardie rides near a gate to a ranch the owner of it, a woman, takes a warning shot at him. Jim introduces himself to her as she asks if he saw the no trespassing signs. He had but he had not crossed onto the ranch. He leaves for Bull Creek where he is looking for an Army Captain named Cole Scofield. He stops to visit with Dr. Crosier who he knows while waiting for the Marshal to return. While visiting the same woman, Susan Kellogg, enters looking to purchase more pills which are really for Capt. Scofield who is at her ranch suffering mental lapses and other mental trauma. Jim leaves and seeing two Army horses enters the saloon where two troopers are having a drink. He assumes they are also after Scofield who is wanted by the Army for desertion while Wells Fargo is after him for a murder and $3,000 stolen. However, Jim learns the troopers are not who he thought they were.

The Has-Been

Three men pick cards to determine who will take a stage coach ride. Steve Draco is the winner. He is on a stage with Jim Hardie riding shotgun guard and two other passengers: Laura Holiday and Cedric Manning, a famous singer in the west who was married to singer Jenny Lewis. She was killed by Indians. The stage is headed for Tubac which is the last place Manning and Lewis played together. Unkknown to everyone but Jim and Draco, the stage will make an unscheduled stop in Tubac where they will pick up a shipment of Army gold for El Paso delivered by two soldiers in plain clothes. During the stop Draco takes everyone hostage forcing Jim to load the gold on the stage with the Army troopers. No witnesses are to be left.

Town Against a Man

Jim Hardie arrives at his friend Tony Crandall's ranch Rainbow with a wedding gift for him. While dropping off the gift in the house, the door opens as Sheriff Hogan enters asking why Jim is in the house. Jim explains why he is there only to be told that Tony is dead and buried in the local cemetery. The sheriff says his death was accidental. At the cemetery Jim is approached by Leo Kinsman, the local attorney, who states he was the only person to attend Tony's funeral. Furthermore, Jim was left Rainbow, the rundown ranch. Jim learns Tony's neighbor Frank "Bully" Armstrong has two daughters that might have been his fiancee. He finds one of them at the ranch house and then finds a letter that explains some facts while making it seem more likely Tony's death was not accidental.

The Barefoot Bandit

The safe in the Bonanza Flats Wells Fargo office was blown and an employee was killed during the blast. Jim Hardie has been sent to investigate. He arrives to find the agent Al Wiley and the local blacksmith/constable Pete Bradford trying to repair the safe. He is told they know who committed the robbery although they don't have the suspect under arrest. The money stolen was bets on a fight promoted by fighter Miller Sledge and his female manager Lisa Lindsey. Sledge goes barefoot and a barefoot man was seen leaving the office via a window plus there is a barefoot footprint outside the window. Jim tracks down the pair but after a short fight with the huge man, Sledge seems overly willingly to return to prove his innocence.

The Hand That Shook the Hand

The sheriff received a message to keep Jim Hardie in town until a stagecoach arrives that has a troublesome passenger. The passenger also has some "extra" baggage - a billiards table. When the stage stops, the driver pulls back the flap on the boot to reveal the passenger sleeping there because he wanted to. He is still drunk so Jim has to be careful in waking and handling him. After he falls asleep on the table, he is moved to a hotel room where Jim awakens him the next morning. Jim takes him to breakfast at the saloon but the man is more interested in beer. After his morning exercise routine of beating several men at once, he reveals he is John L. Sullivan who is trying for the boxing world championship. After this a man known as Abner Dabler comes in looking to make some money by allowing people to try to hit him as he feels no pain. However, with his great strength Sullivan appears to paralyze Dabner causing Sullivan to think about leaving boxing due to his distress.

That Washburn Girl

Nora Washburn works as a clerk in the Wells Fargo office in Maricopa where frequent customer Dean Chase, a gun salesman, has had her doctor the receipts she gives him for his company for deposits over a couple of years. Over that time he has stolen $7,000 from them and constantly pesters her to come with him and marry him. The gun company has caught on to his scheme and is wanting its money back. She has a younger brother Tom who also works at the office who is in love with Ruby Coe. She is the daughter of Jonas Coe who spent time in prison for robbing Wells Fargo but he turned himself in. Because of that Nora is dead against the two marrying. Jim Hardie rides into town as shotgun guard on a stage with driver Scotty as they are carrying $25,000. Chase tries to approach Jim to sell him a gun but messes up by pointing a gun at Jim who doesn't know it is unloaded so he knocks Chase down. Chase overhears Tom Washburn ask Jim for a job as he and Ruby are getting married and leaving town that night. Jonas Coe finds out as well so he comes looking for Tom with a shotgun in hand. He enters the Wells Fargo office just as it blows up.

The Diamond Dude

Jim Hardie is waiting to meet the stage which is bringing Leroy Finch, a New York jeweler, who is headed for San Francisco while carrying a set of very expensive diamonds. Finch is not used to the west nor the ways of the people. While Jim is sending a telegram reporting their status, Bodie Seaton introduces himself to Finch. Bodie had once bought a diamond from Finch in New York which Finch remembers. Bodie asks Finch to the saloon for a drink where the naive Finch is showing Bodie and two other men, Beam and Neilson, his case of diamonds. Jim upon seeing Bodie tells Finch they must leave but not before Beam picks a fight with Jim. After winning they leave by horseback stopping in the town of Marshall City for rest where Jim is worried when Bodie is the hotel manager.

A Show from Silver Lode

The miners of Silver Lode are excited when the actress Pearl Harvey arrives on the Wells Fargo stage. However, the situation goes downhill when she can't find her dog Poochie. Her manager Arthur Phillips announces that the dog is insured with Wells Fargo for $20,000 and Pearl will not go on stage without the dog. When the local banker Henry Dobson volunteers his help, the agent asks to store the policy in his bank safe to which Dobson agrees. The nervous Charlie, the Wells Fargo agent, frantically telegraphs Jim Hardie who arrives finally. Afte learning about the situation, he goes on the trail to find the dog. He locates it at a Wells Fargo station with the two Mexican managers who are less than reputable. Before he leaves they mention that they were paid $20 by the agent to take the dog and then when he tries to return the dog, Pearl no longer wants it.

Fraud

Jim Hardie arrives in the town of Still River at the Wells Fargo office which he finds locked. Next door he asks a man repairing a boat if he has seen Spencer, the local agent. The man has not so Jim decides to enter the office through a window that is unlocked. As he enters the man stops him saying he is the Marshal. After showing his Wells Fargo identification, Marshal Williams lets him go. Inside Jim finds Spencer's body with a pistol in his right hand the result of an apparent suicide. Jim calls the Marshal and then asks to leave everything until he has the photographer he noticed come to take a picture of the scene. He then looks for the mayor who owns many of the businesses including the saloon. There he runs into an old friend from San Antonia, Texas, Jessica Brown who plays the piano. Jim's suspicions appear to have merit when a local gunman tries to kill him or force him out of town.

Stage from Yuma

Jim Hardie carrying his saddle approaches a man, Bud Pierce, cooking a meal at a campfire. He pulls a gun on the man telling him to throw away his knife and pistol. He says a rattlesnake scared away his horse while trying to saddle him and he needs the man's horse. In response to the man saying horse thieves are hanged. Jim responds he is trying to avoid being hanged for other reasons. Upon hearing Jim is an outlaw he offers Jim a chance to make some money. Jim introduces himself as Clint Carpenter as he is on an undercover mission to infiltrate a gang planning to rob Wells Fargo at Yuma. A young man, Lew Walter, arrives who is a Wells Fargo shotgun guard explaining the gang's inside man. This is followed unexpectedly by a woman, Kathy Davidson, who is an old friend of Pierce. Pierce takes Jim and the woman to a meeting with the leader of the gang where Jim must prove his mettle.

Episode 26

Prince Jim

On the road Jim Hardie spots the team from a stagecoach in harness grazing and further up the road he spots the coach on its side. The driver is dead and a little girl, Carol, is crying at the side of the road about her missing doll, Cindy. A man, Willy Zane, comes out of the coach telling him to put his hands up. After showing his ID, the man tells the facts as he recalls them. He remembers the two men's clothes but didn't see their faces. They took his sample case which had the doll on top of it and $5,000 he won in a game in Rincon. They take Carol to Danton to her Aunt Ruth where she is to live. The doll was given to Carol by her mother right before she died and she asks her Prince Jim to return it to her. Jim and Willy return to Rincon where they look with few clues to go on.

The Remittance Man

While on the trail of the outlaw Flaherty who stole $10,000, Jim Hardie hears a gun shot. He finds Gabe Adams also an outlaw in the past going through the dead Flaherty's belongings. Jim pulls his pistol on Gabe but Gabe tells Jim he has changed sides and is now working as a bounty hunter. Jim has Gabe finish the search but no money is found. Jim tells Gabe to bring the body into Blazing Rock where he will arrange for Gabe to get the $500 reward for Flaherty alone. In Blazing Rock Jim learns that Marshal Dan Gillette's daughter Libby is engaged to an Englishman, Noel Briggs. Furthermore, Briggs won over $10,000 from Flaherty playing craps the day before. However, Briggs refuses to return the money as he needs it to pay off gambling debts in England leaving Jim few choices and others may have eyes for the money.

Episode 28

The Jealous Man

Jim Hardie arrives in Newton, Colorado as young brash Lou Thorpe buys a new pistol and holster. Jim rides to the Wells Fargo station where the agent, Henry Thorpe, gives Jim a very cold reception. He tells Jim to get what he came for, Kitty who sent for him, and leave town. About that time his son Lou confronts Jim telling him to draw. Jim takes the gun away as he throws Lou into a water trough. Henry tells Jim Kitty who married his older son Andy with Jim as best man is back in her room at the Golden Lantern where she works as a singer. When Andy lost his job in the mine, he and Kitty were broke so he held up a payroll messenger and has since escaped from jail. The family wrongly thinks Kitty is leaving Andy for Jim. Complicating matters is bounty hunter Morgan Frost who wants the hidden payroll.

Something Pretty

Two outlaws are being chased by the marshal who interrupted a stagecoach holdup. One is carrying an Indian pouch with a priceless bracelet insured for $35,000 they stole. He is severely wounded by the marshal and loses the pouch before falling off his horse while the second outlaw escapes. The marshal takes the wounded man to jail while the pouch is found by the dog Teddy owned by Moose Gilliam. He is a big and strong man but slow mentally who works as a handyman for the locals including milliner Florrie Easton. He is known for wild stories. Moose realizes the bracelet is beautiful but is unaware of where it came from or its value. Jim Hardie is sent in to find the bracelet bought by a miner for his wife.

Jim Hardie has been summoned by the top management at Wells Fargo to a station managed by Jess Walden who has been told to clean up the location. Jim arrives about 20 minutes before the stage which happens to be early. The stage is carrying the wealth elderly lady Agatha Webster and the son of a friend. She is distressed to see Jim is not prepared for her nor is the station up to her standards. She returns later for the final inspection and to discuss her wishes with Jim. She has bought a large mining operation so she is investigating the protection provided by Wells Fargo as part of her making a decision on who to contract to handle the company's shipments. She does not impress Jim who feels she may be her own worst enemy.

Jim Hardie arrives in Calico with three other passengers including the young lad Pete Bridger who is met at the station by his Grandpa Bridger who is a wood chopper. The other two passengers go to the saloon to wait for the trip to continue while Jim meets with the local agent, Mr. Bennett. There is a new stage line in town called Mountain Stage Line which is using intimidation to force the riders to drop Wells Fargo for their own line. Bart Dillon runs it using two henchmen as enforcers. Jim is there to stop them but he finds his job complicated by Grandpa Bridger who tells some really big whoppers to impress Pete. This includes him being a Pinkerton agent and an outlaw. His fake attempt to break into a broken safe is broken up by someone else trying to rob the real safe. When Pete learns the truth from Grandma Bridger, Grandpa goes to the extreme to regain Pete's love.

The Lobo

Sam Horne with his young daughter Julie have come down out of the high country on their way to Santa Fe. He taking Julie there to stay with his brother to start school. They stop in the nearby ghost town of White Oaks to spend the night. The hotel/saloon is run by an older woman known only as Ma. While there, two of the Sawyer boys come in who are part of Pa Sawyer's gang. Pa Sawyer wants Sam to help them in their next job or the boys will turn Sam in for the $5,000 bounty on his head. Sam kills one boy but the second one is not into gun fights. Sam is wounded in the right shoulder so he forced to wait for the stage as he can't ride. Meanwhile, Jim Hardie is waiting with stage driver Cuddy overnight in a different town. He is approached by the local agent Hi Walker who owns a lot of property with an offer of $10,000 if he will kill Sam who he heard is in White Oaks. Jim refuses to take the bait but when Walker brings in bounty hunter Reese, Jim decides to take alternate actions.

Rifles for Red Hand

Jim Hardie is sent by Wells Fargo to Grass River at the request of Army Captain Rawlings to help investigate if rifles are being shipped to the Cheyenne Chief Red Hand via Wells Fargo as farm tools. Jim with the local Wells Fargo agent Pitt Simes meet with Captain Rawlings who asked to see some invoices for farm tools. He recognizes the shipper Sam Tustin but not the woman receiving them, Leah Harper. Simes tells them that she owns the local casino as well as a ranch outside of town. The mystery is why she would be involved. A bit later a man comes to the office named Jebediah Skane who says he can provide some information on Leah for a few dollars. After hearing his story Jim tries talking to Leah but is rebuffed so tries the foreman Matt Taylor at her ranch. He is in love with Leah but is unaware of her actions. However, he is able to take Jim to a site that might be involved.

Gunman's Revenge

Outlaw Rocky Nelson, a gunman, was released from prison early for good behavior. He has a list of four names he plans to kill for helping send him to prison. Jim Hardie is o the list along with the judge and two witnesses at the trial. The town where they live has been warned by Jim Hardie who is on his way there to help protect them. Meanwhile, the two witnesses are in a feud over $11 in wages. Pete Carter needs the money early to feed his three kids but Neil Brand refuses to pay him early. He recently foreclosed on Carter's property. The sheriff posts deputies as nightfall comes and Jim Hardie rides in in a rain slicker making it hard to see who he is. While he and the sheriff talk, Mrs. Castro wife of the judge arrives to say her husband has been murdered. While they investigate a witness sees Carter holding Brand up in his office. When Brand is found dead, the question is who is the killer.

Jim Hardie is delivering an Army payroll to Mesa City where the Army is to pick it up. However, the lone soldier has to return with more men so Jim is forced to lock the payroll in the jail as the Wells Fargo safe is too small. With the sheriff taking prisoner Maxey to prison, he deputizes Jim. Across the street from the jail Jim notices a sign for Doc Dawson who practices dentistry, medicine and undertaking. Sure enough it is his old friend Doc Dawson who is still working on his memoirs and practicing without a license. When Maxey escapes the sheriff and is wounded, this gets Dawson into trouble when Maxey's partner Solo kidnaps Dawson to remove the bullet from his shoulder. This puts Dawson in danger when he overhears Maxey's plan to steal the Army payroll.

A Quiet Little Town

Dave and Meg Prescott are continuing their fight about staying in Warburg where Dave is the sheriff. Judd Sellers is expanding his casino and saloon empire in Warburg after Dave had trimmed it back to one saloon as he cleaned up the town. Meg who worked in Sellers' saloon before marrying Dave wants to leave the town. As the argument heats up Dave leaves before dinner but is shot dead while standing on the porch. Due to delays in hearing about the shooting, Jim Hardie arrives four weeks after the shooting finding Meg with Thorne Whitman, the local banker. When he learns nothing has been done about finding the killer, he decides to solve it himself. From Meg he learns there is a new sheriff named Wade Cather who Jim has met multiple times before when Wade saved Jim's life. Cather also knows Judd Sellers who hired him.

The Martin family farm and relay station for Wells Fargo is in disarray. Daughter Jean wants to leave so she took $10 from her mother Sarah's funds. Sarah is trying to save $200 to pay off the mortgage on the farm while the last run of Wells Fargo is that night as they are closing the relay station. When the early stage arrives older daughter Ruby gets off. Sarah thinks she come in response to her letter asking for money but Ruby never received the letter and she has no money. As they start dinner a wounded Jim Hardie arrives with neighbor Joe Snyder in chains. He shot Jim in the right upper arm and tried to steal $50,000 which Jim has recovered. Jim needs help as he waits for the last stage but the Martins have their eye on the $50,000.

A Wells Fargo stage is traveling with two passengers - an older sick man and a very pretty gypsy woman. While she reads a school book, he starts a conversation with her asking about her gypsy sixth sense. He hands her his watch asking her to tell him about himself based on what she senses from the watch. Before she can say much the stage is stopped by an older man and a young man. They remove the passenger from the stage and tell the driver to move on. Wells Fargo assigns Jim Hardie to investigate and find the man. With little information to go on Jim tracks down the gypsy woman Zita Lopez. She refuses to say much and the Marshal is little help although Jim suspects the kidnapped man is an outlaw from an old case that is closed. After helping her father, Zita shows the watch to Jim.

The Dowry

Jim Hardie leaves a riverboat to take a carriage to the estate of Bertram La Tour. There Mr. La Tour in a wheelchair greets him with a strongbox and a list of its contents. He has asked Wells Fargo personally for Jim to escort the strongbox containing the dowry of $200,000 for his granddaughter, Michelle Bovarde, to Baton Rouge where she is to be married. The strongbox contents everything Mr. La Tour owns including the deed to his estate. Jim must also escort and protect Michelle on the trip. He initially has reservations about the extra work but upon seeing her, he agrees to the request. After they leave the reason for Mr. La Tour's worry arrives - his son Roel La Tour who needs the money.
