This 7 x 45 minutes series bestows a zoological freak show, presented by the exuberant and engaging Nick Baker. In a unique collaboration with the British Natural History Museum, this landmark series presented by Nick Baker takes us to some of the most remote and inhospitable corners of the globe in order to find the ugliest, slimiest and downright bizarre animals that grace the planet. These are the animals that Nick Baker has been longing to track down ever since his childhood days when he was ''dumped'' at the world-class repository of zoological wonders, the British Natural History Museum in South Kensington. Nick always found himself drawn to the most extreme, absurd and unusual exhibits. Some would dismiss these oddities as freaks of nature, but for Nick, these are the unsung heroes of evolutionary biology.

Episode 1

Leafy Sea Dragon

As with all Seahorses, it is the male Leafy Sea Dragon that is responsible for parenting. Arriving in Australia just after breeding time means that Nick could very well see their young; a rare sighting of an extremely endangered fish.

Mole Lizard

We take a road trip through Mexico's Baja peninsula in search of the elusive Mole Lizard (a.k.a Five-toed Worm Lizard). Through its evolutionary journey it lost its rear limbs, leaving a creature that looks like part snake, part lizard and part earthworm.

Axolotl

The Axolotl is a type of salamander that Nick has kept as a pet for two decades. He learns about its unique biology that holds great promise for medical science, and discovers how Mexico City's development has driven this creature to the edge of extinction.

Marsupial Mole

Nick travels to Australia's Red Center in search of one of the world's weirdest desert diggers, the Marsupial Mole. As temperatures in the Outback soar over 100 degrees, Nick searches for clues and looks for tracks using seismic sensing devices.

Slow Loris

Travel to the depths of the Bornean jungle to find the only poisonous primate in the world: the Slow Loris, which lives in the towering rainforest canopy. It looks like a cuddly toy, but it carries a poison in its bite that can prove fatal.

In the Delaware Bay, Nick tracks down one of the oldest creatures on the planet: a half billion-year-old living fossil that is currently in danger. He hopes to witness one of nature's most spectacularly weird spawning events.

Nick heads to a group of desert islands in Panama where strange things have been happening to the animals. He hangs out with the pygmy sloth, a species only identified in 2001, and discovers a species of frog with an identity crisis.
