Bees, unlike wasps, seek out pollen. Bees use their fuzzy hairs and plump bodies to collect pollen. While a bee is collecting pollen from a plant's anther, it is also depositing previously-gathered pollen on the plant's stigma. Over 90% of a honeybee colony is female. One Honeybee can pollinate 1,000 flowers in a day. Each hive has 50,000 worker bees, 300 male drones and one queen bee. Often bees find it easier to seek pollen in blue, purple, yellow and white flowers.
