Slacker Morpheus lives in a head shop in the West country village of Nestonbury with his cynical sister Sarah, failed DJ Kent and tattoo artist Alison, whom he fancies. The girls score pills from Chris - the Holy Man - who tells them about a mythical stash of dope buried in a local field twenty years earlier which the quartet dig up with Morpheus ingesting it. This does not bode well for him when he gets stoned running the village pub quiz and even his spirit guide. actor Sean Bean, who periodically appears to him, is unable to prevent him from getting embarrassingly and publicly wasted.

After a drug-fuelled night in Bath the group and pick-up Sophie are dumped in the middle of nowhere after Sarah throws up in a taxi and Sean Bean appears to Morpheus to tell him it is quest to lead them safely home. This takes them through a dogging ground and an all-night garage where Alison drinks too much for a person taking their driving test next day and Sarah has a fit of self doubt. They end up in a curry house where Morpheus is put in Sophie's bad books as a result of Kent doing something truly disgusting.

When the Holy Man breaks up with Alison her friends take her to get drunk in the village's new pub and Kent is jealous to find his boring school-mate Alistair is its successful landlord, especially as Sarah is impressed. Alison asks Morpheus to pretend to be her boyfriend when the Holy Man turns up, to make him jealous, but Morpheus reads rather too much into this, despite a warning from Sean Bean, and when the ruse works and the couple reunite finds himself going on holiday with Alistair.

Unlike his friends Morpheus is excited by the village's Berry Man festival, especially as he is chosen to play the green-faced fertility symbol of the Berry Man himself. He is not sure whether to respond to organizer Verian's advances towards him but, on advice from Sean Bean, gives in though it ends in public disgrace. Sarah falls for a handsome Scot displaying his bats at the festival - to the annoyance of Kent, who with Alison gets wasted in a very unusual and destructive way.
Episode 5

Sarah gets invited to pretentious hippy artist Dreadhead's barbecue and Alison tags along but loses it when no food is forthcoming. Worse is to come when Dreadhead produces his didgeridoo. Morpheus meanwhile takes Kent's mother Denise, whose husband has left her, for a romantic day out but misreads the signs when they get back to her house, requiring the advice of Sean Bean. Fortunately a viewing of the My Little Pony Movie restores harmony among the group.

At the Holy Man's invitation the group attends a sex party in a large mansion, where free love and assorted kinks rule. Morpheus is astonished to find his old school-master is involved but disappointed that there are very few young people present. Thus he ignores the Holy Man's warning not to enter the forbidden Room 42 - where he encounters the beautiful Angelica but has his expectations literally dampened, leading to an angry confrontation with Sean Bean.
