This wasted space belongs to the active and fun loving Eddins. With two growing kids, Rob and Sarah are all out of ideas when it comes to storing their children's things. The small passage in Ethan's room would be a fun place to play, but it's dirty, dark, and Lily can't even get in there! It's more of a waste than a playroom, so we've come to help. We'll install a brand new door. Inside the door, we'll outfit the space with better flooring and some much needed storage options.

Garage Sports Storage

The largest storage box in many homes is not in the closet, but the garage. But some families stuff so much into their garage that once the cars are in place, they're stuck. Jill Caldwell is running out of storage space. With three active boys and a husband who loves sports, there isn't enough garage shelving to hold all the balls, bats, shoes, and equipment for this growing team of hers. Everything gets thrown together and thrown around. It's time to get team Caldwell organized! The plan includes a 16-foot shelf across the top of the garage to create storage space out of reach from the kids, a ball caddy with shelves for storage and bungee cords across the front, professional sports lockers, and a laser guided device to show where to stop the car.

Mike and his wife need help organizing these toys and figuring out how to watch their son while still doing what they need to do.

In this episode, the bed becomes much more than just a bed. Karl designs a platform style bed with drawers and shelves for storing books, toys, and clothes.

Storage for a Growing Girl

Katie Goodwin's bedroom used to be the family bonus room. Not anymore! Sometimes the boys of the house seem to forget that. Once Katie finally gets them out, she's able to spend some time with her mom. That is, if they can find room. The enormous cabinet juts out from the knee wall and takes up a lot of floor space. When it's time to put everything away, the cabinets are already stuffed. We'll remove the existing cabinet, knock down the knee wall, cut into the under utilized attic space, and construct a multi-faceted, built-in cabinet right into the wall.

Closet Organize

Cathrine Erickson's bedroom is on the third floor, with a very small closet. The only place for all of her clothes is on the first floor. We'll start by opening up a doorway into the new closet suite and then install a completely custom closet system on every wall. We'll bring in a closet expert to help Cathrine layout and organize her wardrobe. Finally, we'll build a custom dressing ottoman for the center of the new room.

Garage Workshop

Kim and Chad Pelton need to better utilize their garage floor space. Finding an ideal storage space for lawn equipment, Kim's sewing stuff, and Chad's collections would make for a new and improved work area. We'll use the overlooked back corner of their garage to build a storage closet with siding, hanging racks, and doors. In addition, we'll build mobile work stations to fill the new floor space. Multi-functional, yet very cool, the work stations will give them the stylish garage workshop they've always wanted.

Basement Utility Room

Like any family, the laundry at the Davis house piles up, and up! Dan, wife Emily, and their son Graham are better at wearing than washing. We'll start with a major clearing out. Then, we'll frame in two walls from floor to ceiling. That's right - a real laundry room! We'll build a unique laundry sorter that surpasses anything he has already. We'll even take advantage of his roughed in plumbing and add some simple amenities.

Utility Room

Jill Jansing is a busy mom with three active kids and an active husband to boot. Tennis, jet skis, you name it; this family does it. With all this fun in the sun, also comes boatloads of laundry. We're going to open up Jill's utility room and make it both attractive and functional. We'll tear down a wall, move the washer and dryer, install laminate flooring, and install some storage solutions to get the mess up off the ground.

Storage Closet

There are five active kids in the Meek household, and as a result the large storage closet upstairs has been overtaken by sleeping bags, costumes, you name it. Mom, Cynthia, is left to pick up the pieces. So Karl drops into the mess to show Cynthia how to better utilize the open wall space with hanging racks and nesting boxes. But how can plumbing materials be used to build swinging hangers? Nesting boxes are ideal for low-hanging ceilings, but getting them to fit into each other can be a little tricky. Watch as Karl and Cynthia work together, with some unexpected help from her children, to make the storage closet more useful from floor to ceiling.

Art Studio

Tim and Tina Gibson are a creative couple who love to enjoy their wide open spaces. Tina has run out of space in her current office. Her job as a graphic designer requires a lot of planning and layout space that she doesn't have. Using Tina's plan as our guide, we'll convert the now empty garage room into a studio. The focal point will be her mobile art table. We'll add storage, a huge adjustable workspace, and even build a wall-sized idea board. One art studio par excellence, coming up!

Outdoor Closet

Ex-pro footballer player Greg Gilbert has run out of space in his garage. We are going to help him address his clutter problem by moving some of his garage stuff to a new address. We build a new outdoor cabinet on the outside wall of Greg's home and create doors that are double hinged to open almost flat against the wall. Greg and his wife Caryl are thrilled to have their garage back and Greg is rather proud of his first attempt at carpentry.

Ultimate Truck Bed

Matt Hill's growing contracting business keeps him on the move all over town. His truck does a great job of getting him there, but falls short when it comes to tool storage. Without a system to organize everything, he can't find anything! What a wreck! We'll divide this truck bed in half, horizontally, and build huge pull out drawers for all his gear. On top of that, a shelf sturdy enough to hold whatever he can throw at it, and a locking toolbox & stylish security!
