He's accompanied by police candidate Klara Proske, who, as the top student in her class, is being given a year-long internship at various departments. While securing the premises, Jäger, Arda, and Mark suddenly encounter the burglar. He manages a spectacular escape, and all they manage to get their hands on is the suspect's jacket. Inside, they find a fortune cookie - a possible lead to the perpetrator? Then, Klara Proske, of all people, is kidnapped during Heinrich's investigation, and he reluctantly asks the police for help. They are to track down Klara, as discreetly as possible. Can the police save Klara, and what is really behind the break-ins at the container terminal?

Police Chief Kruppka is under pressure. An internal police inspector has signed up to monitor the station's efficiency. Kruppka swears her team to stay out of all criminal investigations and to present themselves as exemplary water police officers. Klara Proske, who is interning with the police for a few days, also immediately makes herself useful. When Jäger and Mark, along with inspector Stefan Ernst, come across a body in the water during a lane check, they are forced to comply with Kruppka's request and inform Carsten Heinrich. He quickly dismisses the case as a suicide, as the young woman had recently suffered from severe depression. The police inspector team isn't satisfied with that, so they investigate bypassing the police and inspector Stefan Ernst. They discover that the dead woman was looking for her father, whom she had never met. When the team tries to follow this lead, the police inspector catches on to them. This could have serious consequences. Is the future of the guard even at stake?

She leads the investigators to a shipyard whose employees had serviced not only hers but all the other stolen boats shortly before the thefts. Jäger and Mark lie in wait in the marina to catch the perpetrators in the act. Mark also plants radio beacons on the yachts. Just then, he is accidentally kidnapped and held below deck. The police team does everything they can to rescue Mark - even if they have to rely on Carsten Heinrich's help.
Episode 4
The Federal Police are investigating the murder of Rasmus Lorenzen, whose body was found on the banks of the Rhine. He was apparently killed in his villa and then thrown into the Rhine. From Sarah, the victim's sister, the investigators learn that the deceased enriched himself with cryptocurrencies and dubious financial transactions - from which his clients often came away empty-handed. So he had a few enemies, but did that make him a victim? Nadine finds a threatening letter that leads the team to the victim's housekeeper, Isabel Martinez. Apparently, Rasmus Lorenzen exploited his position of power and made Isabel work for him for free under false pretenses. Did she kill him out of anger? Meanwhile, Arda is struggling with herself. She applied to the State Criminal Police Office and was accepted. What should she do? Pursue a career at the State Criminal Police Office or stay with the colleagues she's grown so fond of? Helga is desperate because her bar is on the verge of financial bankruptcy. The police have a saving grace: a pub quiz should attract more customers. The landlady is enthusiastic and starts looking for a quizmaster. Her old friend Torsten Sträter would be just the right person, but does he even have the time?

The body of Katja Schwarz is found on the banks of the Rhine. To the surprise of Arda and Chief Kruppka, Heinrich this time asks for the help of the police, while Jäger is conveniently on vacation. A message on the dead woman's cell phone leads Arda and Heinrich to the lifeguard Özgür Yilmaz, with whom the young woman had spent her last night. While searching his apartment, the investigators actually come across the crime scene, and at first the case seems clear. But the lifeguard denies everything: He had only known Katja since the previous day, and what motive could he have to kill her? A striking tattoo on Özgür's arm puts Arda and Heinrich on a new lead that goes back to the lifeguard's past. Did someone want to harm Özgür, and was Katja perhaps just a random victim?

A dispute between stand-up paddler Dietmar Knaus and scrap dealer Walther Bracht escalates. Jäger and Mark must mediate. Everything seems to be resolved, but then Knaus suddenly floats dead in the Rhine - right in front of Bracht's villa. Did Bracht shoot him with a shotgun? Or was it a tragic accident triggered by a female hunter's shot? Meanwhile, Carsten Heinrich has entirely different worries - a series of ATM bombings is causing unrest in Duisburg, and there's no trace of the perpetrators. While Carsten Heinrich remains in the dark, the police are making investigative progress, which also benefits Heinrich. But who is responsible for Knaus's death, and what role does Klara Proske play in solving the case?

Carsten Heinrich is reaching his limits both professionally and personally. He is accused of having released the online fraudster Philipp Terwart. Klara, of all people, received the supposed call from Heinrich and has to testify to this in front of her father, Police Chief Jürgen Proske. Infuriated, Heinrich assures him that he never gave such an order over the phone, but goes a bit too far. This prompts the Police Chief to give him an ultimatum: Terwart must be found, or Heinrich faces serious consequences. Just then, Heinrich's mother, Lore, disappears from the retirement home. Heinrich cannot solve these two cases alone. For better or for worse, he must ask his colleagues at the Federal Police for help. However, they are busy trying to find an alligator that was allegedly spotted in the Rhine.

An e-scooter is thrown from a bridge, killing the driver of a pleasure boat. Carsten Heinrich assumes it was an accident and quickly transfers the case to the police. The victim, Tim Drache, happens to be the owner of another e-scooter rental business. The police consider this too many coincidences, and they investigate the death. Who had a motive to kill the businessman? His former business partner Fred Unbehauen, with whom he was at odds and whose girlfriend he had stolen? Or environmental activist Olaf Horst, who is already known for his questionable protests? Meanwhile, Chief Kruppka has entirely different problems. Klara wants to join the water police permanently after her internship. Klara's father, the police chief, doesn't like this at all. He puts pressure on Kruppka - especially with the renovation of the station, something she has been fighting for so long.
