The police are barely out in and around Duisburg harbor when another body turns up in the water. But their arch-enemy Carsten Heinrich from the Criminal Investigation Department arrives on the scene faster and takes over the case. Of course, that doesn't stop the police team from investigating behind his back. The dead woman worked as a crane operator. But who murdered her? Her shift supervisor, the doorman, or her unknown lover? The team, led by Gerhard Jäger, Arda Turan, Frank van Dijk, and Lena Preser, is at its best in the hunt for the murderer. But unfortunately, rival Carsten Heinrich has learned a thing or two. He's not going to let his nerve get the better of him this time.

Thanks to the support of her father, Gerhard Jäger, Nadine has finally found a new apartment. But while they're renovating together, the empty apartment is broken into. What could the perpetrator have been looking for there? The apartment clearly has a secret, which Jäger is only reluctant to reveal to his colleagues. Nadine's previous tenant is his old acquaintance, Wolfgang Brink: a drug smuggler who had to vacate the apartment for a lengthy prison sentence. Apparently, the criminal security expert left "something important" there.

Mord im Yachthafen

Chief Inspector Carsten Heinrich of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has a date that unfortunately goes terribly wrong. After finishing the champagne on his boat all by himself and falling asleep drunk, things go even worse. He wakes up in the middle of the night to a scream and witnesses a woman being strangled on a yacht. Dutifully, he rushes to help, but falls into the harbor basin while intoxicated. When Heinrich himself has to be rescued and also calls the SEK, fire department, and KDD, he finds himself at a loss for words. The supposed crime scene is deserted, and there aren't the slightest traces of a crime on the yacht. A blood alcohol level of 0.2 per mille is measured in Heinrich's blood, prompting him to see the on-duty psychologist the next day. Remorsefully, he asks the WAD and his rival Jäger for help beforehand, because only they can solve the murder that no one else believes and thus save his job.

Der ewige Zweite

While Arda and WaPo chief Kruppka are off to a police conference, Jäger is supposed to be quietly preparing for his exam in Maritime English. But his calmness isn't going to change, because shortly afterwards, a currywurst stand on the Rhine is robbed. The perpetrator races off with the loot on a jet ski. The investigation focuses on gastronomic competition in the form of Duisburg's reigning currywurst king and a craftsman who has an outstanding bill after building the sausage stand. And Frank van Dijk also has his own personal score to settle. During the investigation, he suddenly encounters jet ski pro Ruben Rus, who stole his childhood sweetheart Katja from him. The two are now even married. Moreover, Frank was always the runner-up, which is why he gave up his jet ski career and joined the police. But what do Katja and Ruben have to do with the disputes in the Duisburg currywurst empire?

A fisherman is reported missing by his wife and shortly thereafter found dead in the Rhine by the police. The couple was camping with a female friend in the remote nature reserve. Due to the lack of other suspects, a crime of passion cannot be ruled out. Especially since the wife firmly claims that her husband had recently had a heated argument with another fisherman, a gloomy man with a scarred face, over the remote fishing spot. But there is no trace of the scarred man, and the couple's relationship was apparently not as harmonious as those involved initially claimed. And what role does the female friend who spent the night with the couple in the small tent play? When the scarred man finally shows up unexpectedly, there is a surprising twist.

While Arda Turan was training with her old club again, a young swimmer collapsed. Arda saved her, but the young swimmer fell into a coma. The accident deeply affected Arda, as the victim was her old coach's protégé. It turns out that the young talent was pumped full of contaminated steroids. When her alleged dealer is found dead shortly afterwards, suspicion falls on Arda's old coach. For Chief Inspector Carsten Heinrich, the case is clear: the coach murdered the doping dealer. To prove their mentor's innocence, Arda and her colleagues conduct their own investigation. And indeed, the case soon no longer seems as straightforward as the police assumed.

A young couple was actually planning to spend a romantic night outdoors at the sustainable Duisburg start-up "Green Sleeper" in a nature reserve. But they are robbed and then seriously injured while pursuing the perpetrator. Police station chief Kruppka asks her team to take on this case outside of the regular schedule. Not entirely altruistically, as the failure of the young company could result in significant financial losses for some of her close investors. Jäger suspects sabotage behind the attack. But who could have an interest in driving the entrepreneurial couple Jonas and Lutz Hausmann to ruin? To find out, Arda and Frank go undercover, unaware that the "honeymoon" package has been booked for them. While the two are confronted with an overdose of romance, Lena follows a hot lead.

The supposed flotsam recovered by the police turns out to be a body found in the water: Wrapped in plastic sheeting and tightly tied, the body was tied to the bottom of the Rhine with a weight. The DNA sample taken for identification brings a surprise: The deceased's DNA had been secured a few weeks earlier in the murder of a student. Since this case is being handled by the police's arch-enemy, Chief Inspector Carsten Heinrich, Chief Kruppka considers equal cooperation the only option for solving the two intertwined cases. Heinrich and Jäger reluctantly go hunting together.
