Arda Turan, a former competitive swimmer, has just started her service with the Duisburg Water Police, and the first body has already been found. Stefan Buhl is lying dead on the edge of the harbor. What Carsten Heinrich of the Criminal Investigation Department quickly identifies as a fatal work-related accident raises doubts for Gerhard Jäger, who was transferred from the homicide squad to the "WaPo" as a disciplinary measure. Stefan Buhl and his ex-wife Jessica were having an affair: Could her new partner Markus Franke have killed him out of jealousy? Or was it Captain Willem Dekker and dockworker Fred Kucholski who got Stefan Buhl out of the way after he discovered their drug dealings? When Carsten Heinrich gets wind of the investigation and goes to snitch to "WaPo" head Maria Kruppka, it seems as if his efforts will be in vain. But then Jäger has an idea.

And Lena also discovers an important clue on the surveillance cameras. Will they arrive in time?

A homeless man is found dead in the inner harbor. Carsten Heinrich from the Criminal Investigation Department quickly dismisses the case as a suicide and leaves the "WaPo" to identify the victim. Marcel Bautz is already waiting impatiently at the station: he misses his best friend - who turns out to be the dead homeless man. Bautz is certain that Hacki, whom he only knows by that name, was murdered, and the dead man's injuries also point to this. But who would have a motive? Is it the homeless man Watzke, who is said to have stolen Hacki's watch, or Junkie Keule, with whom he had a previous argument? The "WaPo" colleagues start searching and discover Hacki's watch. This allows them to uncover his true identity and track down his sister. But she hasn't had any contact with her brother for years and can't explain a possible murder at all. The investigation leads in all directions, but Hacki's death remains a mystery. Suddenly, the "WaPo" discovers the murder weapon and thus also the trail of the criminal. Can they successfully solve the case?

Thanks to Jäger's keen instinct, his colleagues from the "WaPo" (Police and Police), a police officer, embark on a chase and manage to stop a suspicious ship. But not only are the jewel thieves on board, but also Frank van Dijk's father. He is the ship's captain. Frank, who hasn't had contact with his father for years, can't believe that his father is a thief. Ruben van Dijk protests his innocence, but his alibi isn't watertight. The police don't believe him either. Moreover, the jeweler identifies him as the clear perpetrator. But Frank doesn't give up and searches for evidence to exonerate his father. The dead man's wife also has a motive. Vincent wanted to leave her and emigrate with his new girlfriend. However, the evidence against the suspects is insufficient. Is he in cahoots with the thief? His colleague Frederike Proll is supposed to shed light on the mystery, but she has suddenly disappeared. She threw herself into the Rhine. A tragic accident, suicide, or was it murder to eliminate an accomplice? Arda and Frank are faced with a mystery. But with the help of logic and mathematics, the two manage to reconstruct the course of events. Meanwhile, with the help of his daughter, Jäger is able to prove his innocence and is fully vindicated.
