What began as a romantic trip to Mainau ended in disaster for Christine Keppler and Matthias Bruhns. Within minutes, their pedal boat filled with water. The physically weakened Bruhns found the walk to the shore too far. Before Paul arrived with the Bodan and could pull Bruhns' completely distraught companion out of the lake, he ran out of energy. When divers discovered drill holes below the waterline in the boat, the police questioned the boat rental agent Jana Gollinger, who was shocked and immediately suspected her former employee Peter Wermke of stealing from her. In fact, the back door of the boathouse had been broken open and the drill was missing. But Wermke, who makes a living as a bottle collector, vehemently denies the crime. Nele looked to Christine Keppler for the motive, who is married and had a fling with the former plastic surgeon Bruhns while at the spa. Her husband Oliver served with the KSK special commando in Calw. Jakob has airplanes in his stomach. His great love Sonja (Lily Menke), whom he left nine years ago, is suddenly standing in front of him again. She has a sweet eight-year-old daughter Tammi and a big request... While drinking coffee in front of Mechthild's villa, the two become closer - much to Julia's displeasure. Meanwhile, a letter has landed in Jana's mailbox that is very incriminating for Wermke. And Christine's husband has turned up. He wants to support his wife. Nevertheless, Nele notices atmospheric disturbances between the two. She checks Keppler's alibi.

Engel Lügen Nicht

Andrè Malik is notorious for his thefts around Lake Constance. Paul explains to Nele that Malik is wanted when a distraught mother rushes into the station. Mira Baader says that her 16-year-old daughter Leonie has not returned from her morning stand-up paddling. And then a kidnapper calls her cell phone, asking her to keep the police out of it. Too late: Together with Julia, Nele and Paul delve deeper into the case, which reveals more and more inconsistencies. What role does stepfather Alexander, who is moving to Boston in a few days, play in Leonie's life - and why do the kidnappers choose such a strange handover point for the ransom? Leonie's boyfriend cannot help because he goes to school in England. Suddenly there is also a connection to the fugitive Malik. Meanwhile, Jakob is still overwhelmed by his new role as a father. At breakfast, he notices another thing he and his daughter have in common. The situation frightens him and at the wrong moment he confesses to Mechthild that he is overwhelmed with Tammy. His daughter makes a fatal decision.

Zwei Leben

Jakob's daughter Tammy is gone. She simply ran away in an inflatable boat. The search for her has two results: that Jakob has to find a way to get to his daughter, which Mechthild supports with words and deeds - and that the police have to solve the violent death of a wife and mother who is found dead in Lake Constance right next to Tammy's place of refuge. The victim, Verena Kirves, had arranged to go stand-up paddling with her friend Gülhan. But she didn't have time and so Verena was alone when her murderer strangled her. Husband Richard is stunned when Paul tells him the news. His daughter Emilia Kirves reacts differently than expected. And when Emilia seeks comfort from Gülhan's son Emre, it becomes clear that there are more connections between the families than the police are supposed to know. Julia exposes Richard as Gülhan's boyfriend. When Nele gets the data from Verena's cell phone, the police have to realize that they have followed the wrong lead. Suddenly cinnamon rolls play an important role and Lana del Rey provides the musical accompaniment to the showdown on the shore of the lake. Only Jakob, who has taken time off to play soccer with Tammy and to live up to his fatherly role, has a real sense of achievement. Tammy finally calls him "Papa". Then Tammy's mother Sonja calls. She seems upset. The line breaks down.

Vermisst

Jakob is the first to sense the danger. Tammy's mother Sonja has never let her daughter down. Now she rejects Jakob's call, even though she should have been back at Villa Fehrenbach 24 hours ago. Julia, of all people, supports her ex-boyfriend Jakob in his wish to locate Sonja's cell phone, while Nele is still hesitant. A visit to the art expert and collector Ruben von Wallersleben brings the disturbing realization that Sonja was recently restoring an Otto Dix painting that was just discovered in a strange way and is worth millions. Sonja left in the water taxi, the serious man says - and Jakob realizes that Sonja did not want to go back to her daughter and him, but to the gallery owner Isabell Herold in Konstanz. Meanwhile, Mechthild realizes that the picture of an "evil woman" that Tammy is currently painting could help in the search for Sonja. A visitor to the Herold Gallery, who Tammy's picture fits, sneaks off when Paul and Julia show up there. They soon find Karin Pleyer, who attacked Sonja once before in Frankfurt and who has a desperate motive. But then Julia discovers that the water taxi driver Giulio Lemke has a record of tying up women. When he is brought to the station, Jakob almost goes crazy and Nele makes a difficult decision. Only slowly does it dawn on the police what could be behind Sonja's disappearance. They race in the boat to a group of buoys. Shots echo across the lake. Jakob aims.

Ein Tödlicher Augenblick

It is the perfect evening: When Julien Bakker and his beautiful companion race across Lake Constance in a motorboat after visiting the lakeside terraces, they are both drunk and only have eyes for each other. They hear the desperate calls of a dinghy driver too late. Because he doesn't want his affair with his companion Flora Fitz to be exposed and because he also has alcohol in his blood, Bakker flees the scene. There is no trace of the driver of the dinghy. He doesn't tell his wife Annika about the accident. Instead, he finds a blackmail letter on his car in the morning... The case begins mysteriously for the police. A caller calls Jakob and says he saw the accident involving two boats from the moving train. Julia and Paul also find debris from a dinghy at the specified location. A little later, however, Julien Bakker's body is found on the shore. The dinghy driver Falko Dörr, however, survived badly injured. He breeds snakes and has money problems, which make him suspicious in Jakob's eyes. When Nele visits Annika Bakker to tell her the news of her husband's death, it turns out that Flora is Annika's best friend. Meanwhile, Mechthild is causing annoyance at home for Jakob. She has misused his new T-shirt for her batik experiments. Nevertheless, he puts the WaPo on a new trail by decrypting the data on Julien Bakker's cell phone.

Tödliche Lügen

A wonderful morning on Lake Constance. Lea von Brahms starts her daily 2000 meter swim. But she doesn't reach the shore. Despite desperate resistance, something pulls her into the depths. At first, Nele and Paul suspect Lea's boyfriend, the attractive personal trainer Malte Hummert. Malte wanted to emigrate to Los Angeles with Lea, but keeps quiet about the fact that they had had repeated arguments, including the evening before. But Viola von Brahms, Lea's sister, who runs a coworking space company with Lea, tells her this. But why has Lea recently been researching the name of Viola's boyfriend Peter Richter so often, as Jakob finds out, who is also being urged by Mechthild to organize a picture of Nele in uniform. In general, Mechthild has a noticeable number of questions about her daughter's preferences. At the WaPo, the investigation takes a new direction when Peter Richter's past comes to light. Faced with this, Viola von Brahms makes a fatal decision. And what role do Lea's smoothie mixer and the attractive cleaning lady Tanja Mayer play? While Viola makes a confession to Nele at the police station, there is a dramatic showdown on her yacht. Julia has to use her weapon to save lives.

Mechthild is arrested in front of the house of the recently murdered real estate shark Thomas Steeler. She and others were there to demonstrate against speculators who buy up apartments and houses around the lake and sell them again at a huge profit. This is embarrassing and a real challenge for Nele. Steeler had nothing but enemies. Even his wife Michaela Morgenroth openly admits that she hated her husband and that is why she separated from him. She is the editor-in-chief of the newspaper in which a recent celebratory article about Steeler appeared. Written by the handsome Johannes Riedler, who uses his charm to try to coax more information about the case out of Julia. But Julia tells him nothing about Marius Behrwald, whose traces are found at the crime scene. The homeless father is under pressure because the youth welfare office has banned him from seeing his daughter without a home. He is initially able to evade arrest because his colleague Fred Danner has a tip for him about where another apartment is empty. Then Jakob discovers a new trace on Steeler's cell phone. A train ticket from Milan now plays a crucial role. Paul comes to Nele's house for a private barbecue and surprises her.

Tödliche Sehnsucht

Nele and Paul's morning patrol of the lake ends with the discovery of a body on the shore. Teenager Victor Fuchs has drowned after suffering a broken neck. When the two detectives arrive at "Haus Sterntaucher," where Victor was part of a residential project for juvenile delinquents, they witness an argument between Ben Stadler and carpenter Dennis Rutschinski, who is building a boat out of scrap wood with the teenagers. However, the three teenagers-Ben, his girlfriend Michelle, and Kiara-present themselves to the police as an ignorant unit, and their social worker, Katrin Böblinger, also claims to have been unaware of any conflict. When Julia finds a scrap of fabric at the potential crime scene and Jakob hacks the dead man's cell phone, the case begins to move. Katrin Böblinger insists on speaking to the police only in the presence of a lawyer, while Michelle voluntarily gives a statement to the police about Kiara, a statement clearly intended to mislead the investigators. Kiara, in turn, pays Dennis a visit, which has unforeseen consequences. Suddenly, everything happens very quickly. The showdown on a sailboat in the buoy field is heading towards a tragic end. Investigators race across the lake in a police boat. Can they prevent an act of vigilante justice?

Gagged and tied to a chair, company boss Marc Mathis is forced to watch as a masked man empties the safe containing the week's takings from the building materials business and escapes across the lake in a boat. Even worse, during his escape, the robber also kills Marc's brother Jan, who tried to stop him. During the investigation, Jakob is puzzled by the fact that the perpetrator must have known the company's access code. The company's former black sheep, Andi Klimmeck, who has been living on the streets since his dismissal, is quickly identified as a possible suspect. However, Paul believes the amateur angler when he says he has nothing to do with it. Klimmeck then directs the investigators' attention to Sascha Schaalo, who claims to have been with his mother at the time of the crime. Meanwhile, the widow Hannah Mathis finds comfort and support from her brother-in-law Marc, who was once deeply in love with her. Social worker Katrin Böblinger has also fallen in love with Nele, who initially struggles to cope with Katrin's sudden confession. Only when her mother, Mechthild, remarks that Nele looks in love and asks for the "guy's" name, does Nele decide to take a surprising step. Meanwhile, a suspect vanishes without a trace and is in mortal danger.

Episode 10

Julia is taking some time off. During a yoga retreat on the lake led by Lara Mühlemann, a body suddenly floats by. Julia jumps off her surfboard, pulls the deceased, a real estate agent, ashore, and begins her investigation - without revealing her identity as a police officer to the other participants. She explains to her colleagues, who have rushed to the scene, that this is the only way to obtain the information needed to solve the fatal stabbing. Thanks to Julia's attentiveness and Annika Schwab's testimony, Nele soon realizes that the instructor has been lying to her. Meanwhile, lawyer Maximilian von Berg gets dangerously close to the undercover investigator during her inquiries. Julia observes fellow yoga student Stefanie Föhringer, an heiress to a vineyard, hiding something in a stone pillar on the lakeshore. Paul, on the other hand, wonders why the conscientious Nele leaves the office so punctually and happily. She's looking forward to meeting Katrin Böblinger. Mother Mechthild is preparing the arbor for Nele's first visit in a long time - and experiences a huge surprise.

Episode 11

Rotes Gold

During their morning patrol, Julia and Paul couldn't believe their eyes: a motor yacht was steered into the nature reserve right before their eyes. The skipper was laughing maniacally at the helm - and later died in Paul's arms. The lab provided the answer. Celebrity chef Carlos Münch had died from an inedible overdose of saffron. When his wife, Nadine Münch, informed the staff of the Michelin-starred restaurant "Epice" of their boss's death, it didn't just cause shock. Sous-chef Anna Förster, for example, had recently been doing almost all the work in the kitchen and claimed to have been unaware that Carlos Münch had lost his sense of smell a few months earlier due to a viral infection. Jakob discovered a long criminal record for trainee Maik Bauer, and finally, spice merchant Laurin Widmer came under suspicion of having adulterated the expensive saffron. Furthermore, the charming Swiss man admitted to having feelings for the beautiful widow. But was that enough of a motive? Nele, who goes to the cinema with Katrin and irritates her colleagues with her cheerful mood, spontaneously decides to take a spice course with Anna Förster. Several unexpected things happen during the course. Afterwards, Mechthild hugs her daughter tightly. Nele needs comforting.

Episode 12

Ron Franke's world collapses: His brother David is brought to the surface, half-dead, by his diving partner Susann. David dies in the hospital. He leaves behind his wife Lisa. Paul is puzzled, because David belonged to the police diving unit, as did Susann once did - for whom Paul was a kind of mentor. The two were diving in a restricted area, searching for evidence that the Hornschild company was illegally discharging wastewater into Lake Constance.

Episode 13

Der Menschenfreund

Georg Sperling suddenly became wealthy through an inheritance. Word had spread around Lake Constance that the philanthropist was fond of helping others - including with monetary donations. Now his body has been found floating on the lakeshore - and the WaPo (Water Police) witnesses Sperling's son Frieder berating the housekeeper, Hoa Phan, as a fortune hunter when she arrives for work.

Episode 14

Großvaters Schuld

Carpenter Armin Herbst is found dead in the lake. Initially, everything points to suicide, as Armin was partly responsible for the death of his five-year-old granddaughter Rosa. However, Nele Fehrenbach and her team quickly determine that Armin died a violent death. Armin lived close to Rosa's parents, his son and daughter-in-law. Did the tense situation escalate?
