The slightly injured and confused elderly Mr. Zielke, whom the WaPo Bodensee rescues from the water, turns out to be an important witness in a murder case. The painter Carl Glanzer is floating lifeless next to a sailing yacht that the shipyard owner Weyrich allegedly gave him a week ago in exchange for a painting. Mechthild's eyes widen when her daughter Nele carelessly mentions the name at dinner. Zielke was once a world-famous photographer who also photographed Mechthild in her youth. Niklas would like to see the black and white pictures from Grandma's past. Meanwhile, the investigators still don't have a hot lead. The last text message from Glanzer's cell phone went to museum director Florian Nietzsche and also concerned his wife Hanna, who separated from him six months ago and now lives in Portugal. Julia senses that he is hiding something. When Zielke's house is the target of an attempted break-in, Jakob has to stay with him. Paul makes a surprising discovery while examining the paintings in the artist's studio, which causes everyone to become excited. Mechthild has also resumed contact with Zielke and her life is now in danger.

The neighboring jewelry store also comes into the investigators' focus. But then things develop in an unexpected direction. A parcel delivery person needs a lot of time... The police are left behind and Jakob, who is alone on the lake, has to make the right decisions very quickly.

Niklas is taking out his frustration about the community service hours he currently has to do on his mother. But the WaPo team is still making no progress in the investigation. Nele wants to arrest Lisa's father and Jakob finds the photographer Malte, with whom Lisa had an affair, highly suspicious.

One of the many applicants for the license is Dirk Hassebrock, whose restaurant "Fischermanns" was the site of a butyric acid attack during the night. In the days before the murder, he had increasingly aggressively accused Röhmke of being in cahoots with the Dreschers. During interrogation with Julia, Röhmke's deputy Alina Tittus has to admit that she is now moving up to the position of boss. During the search of Röhmke's meticulously tidy apartment, Paul discovers a transparent bag with 5,000 euros. A bribe? And if so, from whom? Then, in the middle of the night, the Dreschers' car is smeared with paint and Mrs Drescher is surprised to see her husband standing outside fully clothed. But she also has a secret that makes him wonder. Hassebrock's alibi evaporates and Nele has to endure the mockery of her colleagues because the consequences of her nighttime operation are visible on her face. Jakob discovers the deceased's canoe on the lake with his cell phone. Another butyric acid attack on a hotel almost drives the investigators to despair. At least Paul now smells unbearable.
