Wing, however, tells Josh and the others that he has several times as much gold in the Santa Fe bank to cover the losses. He can go to Santa Fe to pick up more paper notes that he can issue to the depositors. When his plan is disclosed to the public they refuse to let Wing leave town so Wing asks Josh to make the trip for him. That evening as Wing prepares the documents Josh will need, someone takes a shot at Wing from outside his house creasing his head. Josh is knocked out when he goes to investigate. Josh goes ahead with the trip but with a trap in mind.
