Ex-pop singer Maxine Hancock juggles being a housewife and mother with managing the group Sweet Gyal, comprising Amber, Chantal and Kim. However the trio is dissatisfied with her promotion of them whilst musician husband Neil feels she is putting her work before her family. They are all further confused when she announces that she is launching Mumpop - reviving her old band Variety with two other members now mothers like herself.

With Sweet Gyal in the recording studio, Maxine's on a mission to find her former bandmates and get Variety back to the big time. But reuniting with Mel (Amy Booth-Steel) isn't the dream scenario she'd imagined. Meanwhile, her husband Neil tries to spice up their love life with advice from his best mate Mikey (Jim Howick)...and a prostitute.

Episode 3
On Neil's fortieth birthday Maxine departs to promote Variety, leaving Mikey to help him celebrate by white water rafting, giving him a taste for adventure. Maxine, however, has two problems - Sweet Gyal sacking her as manager and the need to find a third member for Variety. Happily for her Mikey's prostitute girlfriend Sarah would seem to be the solution to the second.
Episode 4
To Maxine's annoyance Sweet Gyal get a new manager and a recording contract though she does secure a gig for the revised Variety at the Crown pub. Mikey and Neil turn up to support the group and are chatted up by two young women. Mikey convinces Sarah that she is the only one for him but Mel does not want to let Maxine down after a successful appearance by telling her what she has seen in the toilets.
