What began as a small car collecting hobby in the 1950s led to one of the world's most impressive collections of functional fine art that now not only contains 214 automobiles, but also vintage radiator cap ornaments, French Louis XV style furniture, musical watches, antique mechanical musical instruments, nickelodeons, orchestrions, and a huge 5000-pipe Wurlitzer theater organ that is the world's first computerized pipe organ. This museum is the private collection of Dorothy and J.B. Nethercutt. He and his aunt, Merle Nethercutt Norman, founded Merle Norman Cosmetics. The building, known as San Sylmar, that houses the collection was built in 1971.
