Huell often spends his weekend mornings enjoying the many local farmers' markets in Los Angeles. One fateful day at the Hollywood Farmers' Market, he met Miguel, a fruit seller who had a poster board loaded with photos of his beloved goat Clementine. Huell then journeyed to Grover Beach to meet Clementine and hear the story of this remarkable animal and the man who saved her. Finally, Huell, Miguel, and Clementine drive to Fair Hills Farms near Paso Robles to meet the Rydell family and visit their orchards that grow the peaches that sparked that initial conversation back in Hollywood.

In 1896 the Krüegermann family started making pickles in Germany. The family immigrated to Los Angeles in 1965 with their secret family recipes for not only pickles, but sauerkraut as well. Huell visits the 25,000-square-foot facility where the third and fourth generations of this wonderful family run the business. He learns all about the art of making sauerkraut and meets the youngsters of the fifth generation that will someday join the enterprise. To conclude his visit, he is invited to join the entire family to have lunch, just as they do everyday, for a meal that includes sauerkraut and other traditional German food.
