Episode 1
Sun, Aug 30, 201523 mins
Violet confides in Freddie and Stuart that she believes her husband, Jasper, has abandoned her, she not having seen him in a few weeks since they returned from their honeymoon. What's worse is that Violet's somewhat estranged sister, Lillian Haverfield-Wickham, about who Violet has previously not told anyone and who Violet has not seen in years, is coming for a visit. As Lillian has always gloated that she married into money and thus has had a wonderful life, Violet, to even the balance of power in their relationship, told her that Jasper is also from money, and that they live in a lavish flat with servants. To help Violet on both fronts, Freddie and Stuart devise a plan, which also requires Penelope's help, to impersonate Jasper and the servants, using their own much nicer and well-appointed flat as Violet and Jasper's. Playing against type as Freddie treats Stuart as a servant in their day-to-day lives, flamboyant Stuart takes the role of butch straight Jasper, while domineering Freddie takes the role of Freddie the butler. Pulling off the scheme gets even more complicated when Ash drops by unexpectedly with his new serious girlfriend, Jess - not "Jessica" - as Ash is trying to impress her with the people closest to him in his life, they who he described to her as "authentic".

Feeling unfit Freddie and Stuart join Ash at the gym, where they are persuaded by handsome young trainer Theo to sign up for a three month 'special' course. In fact they are so taken by Theo that they invite him home - to the exclusion of Ash. Ash however realizes that Theo is exploiting his friends and takes appropriate action, reconciling him with the pair. Meanwhile Violet and Penelope take advantage of the couple's absence from their flat to eat all their food.

Stuart wants to do more fun things with Freddie as a couple. So when Ash and Jess, who have moved in together, invite Stuart and Freddie to join them in their ballroom dance class, Stuart gladly accepts, inviting Violet - who still does not know husband Jasper's whereabouts - Mason and Penelope, while being able to drag along Freddie. Stuart and Freddie have different views of the class, their differing perspectives which may threaten if they continue taking the class, or if they continue taking the class together. While Penelope has flashbacks to her past in the class, Violet may get a glimpse into her romantic future. And Ash believes he is falling in love with Jess, and beyond seeing if he will survive the minor accidental injuries she seems to inflict on him every time he is about to tell her, he asks Freddie for advice on what he should do. The issues facing the seven students as well as that of the dance instructor, Antonio St. Alexis, all come to a head during the class' culminating non-competition competition.

While Freddie and Stuart move toward being husband and husband, Ash and Violet, who has been dumped by Jess and is still without Jasper probably forever respectively, and who are standing up for Freddie and Stuart at their nuptials, decide to move on with their romantic lives. Ash and Violet take different tacts in exactly how they will do so. In Ash's case, he reconnects with old girlfriend Chloe as she is now a wedding planner and he believes that her getting the job planning Freddie and Stuart's wedding would jump start her career, especially if the guest list includes Freddie's celebrity "friends" as he wants. Beyond reconnecting with Ash, sensitive and nervous Chloe may regret this reunion, specifically in having to deal with demanding Stuart, especially as how lavish the affair can actually be is dependent on if Freddie gets a job for which he is auditioning. Ash too may have a difficult time living up to Freddie's expectations of his best man duties, especially in hosting Freddie's stag.

While Freddie and Stuart continue on with their own lives as if nothing has changed, Violet and Ash end up not appreciating their new roles as the substitute "Stuart" and "Freddie" respectively. So, Violet and Ash decide they need to join forces to see if they can help erase the memory of one argument so that Freddie and Stuart can continue on with their fifty year life together and imminent marriage in loving bitchiness. They are also flush with money with Stuart having inherited his just deceased mother's estate, about which they don't want to tell their friends and with which they want to indulge themselves and only themselves. Violet and Ash could use their financial help as Violet's now ex-husband has absconded with all her money, and Ash is still having problems holding onto any job, all of those poor paying ones at that. But all these items usurp Mason's news about his open heart surgery about which no one seems to care. Summer. It's Freddie's birthday and he seems more interested in the card he received from the cast and crew of Downton Abbey (2010) than he is about the latest in the long line of Stuart's original and sentimental birthday gifts. Penelope makes an admission to Ash about an aspect of her life she thought was well hidden. And Violet makes a decision about her love life. Autumn. Ash has some bittersweet news about his life. The thought process in deciding what to do demonstrates how insecure he is as a person. Winter. It's the Christmas season and Freddie is preparing to star in a Christmas radio broadcast alongside Dame Eileen Atkins. While Penelope gets some unexpected comfort in expressing some fears, Freddie is still quietly reeling about Ash's "autumn" decision, that is until...
