Three very different women, naive Neely O'Hara, good-natured Jennifer North, and talented Anne Wells travel to Hollywood to make it big in show business where all three meet in a production office and become fast friends only to see first-hand of the dirty and underside of the 'casting couch' in Hollywood, California. Helen Lawson is a middle-aged, abrasive and extremely egoistical actress who sees the women as a threat to her career and plots not to let them upstage her in any way in front and behind the camera.
