Episode 1
Alan Cumming examines the hidden histories of cities, revealing the sights and sounds rarely witnessed by the public. He begins in London at St Paul's Cathedral, where he visits a place tourists never go, before exploring a hidden park and a little-known church. He also gets a guided tour of Soho from broadcaster Danny Baker.
Episode 2
Alan tours the less-celebrated sights of Brighton, beginning by visiting the Toy and Model Museum to look at its collection of model trains. He then discovers a boutique that sells a variety of unusual items, before taking a glimpse behind the scenes at the Royal Pavilion.
Episode 3
Alan Cumming explores the history of Bristol, beginning by learning a grisly secret at the docks before meeting Mercury Prize-winning musician Roni Size to discuss life in the St Pauls and Stokes Croft areas of the city. He also explores the district of Clifton and visits a speakeasy-style bar.
Episode 4
Alan Cumming visits Liverpool, cutting through clichés about football and the Beatles to explore its less-celebrated treasures. Among his destinations are a 1930s banking building that has remained unaltered since closing in 2007, a well-appointed set of toilets and a recording studio hidden in a bar. He also discovers which former dictator once spent Christmas in the city.
