In the process, they discover more that they would like to embark on in a joint venture of a more personal nature. Josh continues to be haunted by Rita as he comes to terms with his sex life and the role that relationship with Rita had on the person he is. And Shelly believes she's discovered her voice in improv class, that voice which she tests in public and which makes her feel empowered.

And Davina and Sal hit a crossroads in their relationship, Davina's overall feelings related to the cocktail of drugs she is on to manage her HIV. In the process, Davina remembers back to her youth and a deal she made with God.

They also can't help but bring their Los Angeles lives to Tel Aviv, Sarah and Len who need to rely on the Internet and WiFi to do so, and Josh who wishes he could just get rid of his issues. Moshe, with a bodyguard by his side, takes the American side of the family to Jerusalem. There, Ali demonstrates how much her visit to Ramallah has affected her.

The family, minus Ali, continues their trip through Israel, their next stop after the Bedouin village being the Dead Sea. Maura, believing that she will never see Moshe again after they head back to the States, tries to have a heart to heart with her father. The result of that talk leads to Maura turning to Shelly. Sarah has been deeply affected by their visit with Lila's mother, namely in feeling like Lila, the young, pretty one, is Len's preferred sex partner in their threesome, leaving Sarah believing she will be left out in the cold. Josh's conversations with Nitzan lead to a new experience for Josh, which in turn results in Shelly having an emotional meltdown over her relationships with the individual family members. Meanwhile, Ali reconsiders her decision to abandon and family and thus wants to meet up with them at the Dead Sea. Getting there from the West Bank has its own challenges, with Ali needing to make a crucial decision along the way.

They Is on the Way

Still without Ali and not having any idea where she is, the family has arrived at the Dead Sea a little worse for wear because of the emotional turmoil in they all dealing with their collective issues en route. They have to decide to proceed into the water without Ali or wait for her to arrive which may or may not happen, her absence which may be a little more clear with an announcement by Maura. The other issues the family members dealt with en route from the Bedouin village come to some conclusions, with Shelly needing to decide if she can truly trust her family, most specifically Josh, in a potentially life and death situation. Meanwhile, Ali has crossed the checkpoint from the West Bank back into Israel. However, she is now by herself as the state of her companion is uncertain, he seemingly detained by checkpoint officials. Ali has to decide to proceed or not without him. And back in Los Angeles, the peace that was Davina's stay at the Pfefferman house comes to abrupt end when she meets the upstairs renter, August, who is going through his own issues.
