SPOILER: Wang Miao who was an applied physicist paid a visit to Liangxiang Accelerator Base. There he met Yang Dong who was in charge of the collision experiment and took a picture of her. Shen Yufei was a theoretical physicist and also a member of an organization called The Frontier of Science. Somehow she perfectly predicted the test results of Yang's experiment and gave them to Yang's teacher. The latter committed suicide no long later. 10 months later, many scientists across the world committed suicide. Wang was asked by the military to join a conference at a temporary battle command center. Shi Qiang who was an experienced detective showed Wang around the center, he was talkative and a bit rude in Wang's eyes. During the conference, Wang was acknowledged of the deaths, including Yang Dong's. He also knew that all of these deaths were suspected to be related to The Frontier of Science. After the meeting, General Chang Weisi presented his request towards Wang, which was to do an undercover job in The Frontier of Science since he was invited by the latter. Unfortunately, Wang refused. Before he left, Chang told him that the entire human race would face a tremendous crisis soon and greatly shocked Wang. After the conversation, Shi mentioned that Wang was majoring a different direction compared to the one which The Frontier of Sciences was heading. He could be vital to the further actions of the organization.

SPOILER: Wang paid a visit to Ding Yi's place. Ding was Yang Dong's boyfriend and also her co-worker. After her death, Ding got beaten and found himself trapped with alcoholism. Before committing suicide, Yang left her last words which stated her reason. She claimed that human physics would no longer exist. According to Ding, this all came from an unsuccessful experiment. The data was completely out of rules and could not be explained by any physical laws. Later, when Professor Munphy committed suicide, Yang found that someone faxed him her test results before the experiment ended. This shocked her greatly. Wang was deeply impressed and he started to question his faith on physics. No long later, he attended a conference held by The Frontier of Science. During the conference, Wang discovered that the organization seemed to hold their beliefs on The "Inductivist Turkey" Theory and The Shooter Hypothesis that could destroy a scientist if proven right. After the conference, Wang was acknowledged that Yang's funeral would be held soon. He attended the funeral and was planning to give the picture of Yang Dong to Ye Wenjie, Yang's mother. But right before he gave it out, he discovered a line of mysterious numbers appeared on his pictures. Back home, Wang started to do his research on the numbers and they seemed to appear on numerous pictures.

SPOILER: After numerous experiments, Wang discovered that the numbers only appeared in the pictures that he took. He found that the numbers were actually a countdown, which had a time of 49 days remained. While Wang was driving, He found countdown stuck in the middle of his sight. No matter his eyes were closed or not, the countdown stayed. Li Yao, Wang's wife suggested him to go to a doctor. After paying a visit to the hospital, the symptom remained unexplained. Suddenly, Wang realized that the countdown matched with the one on his office computer. Suffering from the symptom, Wang decided to visit Shen for answers. The latter told him to shut down his experiment on nanotechnology. During the conversation, Wang discovered that The Frontier of Science is up to something.

Episode 4

SPOILER: After considerations, Wang decided to shut down his experiment. When it was done, the countdown disappeared. This greatly shocked him. He had no idea how Shen was behind all this. With great anger, He called Shen and was acknowledged that there was a highly-advanced civilization behind everything and The Frontier of Science answered to it. In order to test all this, Wang required to see something that was impossible for human technology to achieve. Shen said yes and told Wang that the entire universe would flicker for him at a specific time. All he had to do was to find a spot to observe it. In order to do so, Wang found Ye Wenjie who used to be an astrophysicist. There he knew that Yang Dong was extremely talented on physics since she was a child, but her life was filled with physics which eventually led her to an extreme direction. Ye called her student Sha Ruishan to offer Wang a chance to observe the flicker. After Wang left, Shi found him. He thought that Ye had something to do with the deaths, since she was acting extremely calm after her daughter's death. He still wanted Wang to work with him on the case, but the latter seemed to be frustrated.

SPOILER: Wang and Sha detected the signal which suggested that the universe was flickering. After analysis, Wang discovered that the flicker was sending a message, telling Wang how much time he had left. In order to further confirm this, Wang went to the nearest planetarium and borrowed their device. There he witnessed the universe flickering in front his eyes. After all these, Wang found his faith collapsed while he had no courage to commit suicide. In order to comfort Wang, Shi took him to breakfast and had a conversation with him. There he realized that no matter how advanced their technology was, human should never give up on hope. They wanted him to shut down the experiment for a reason, and that was why the experiment must never be failed. After spending some time with his family, Wang understood that his faith was never theories of physics, but the love towards life and loved ones. He was no longer afraid of the countdown since no matter what was waiting at the end of the countdown, they would find a way to get through it. Shi took Wang's pictures to Chang and they analyzed it.

SPOILER: Chang Weisi and the governments across the world were acknowledged of the existence of the countdown. Shi still wanted Wang to do the undercover job. He promised that he would do his best to ensure Wang's safety. Later, a police officer called Xu Bingbing were assigned to work with Shi. the latter wasn't sure about her capability at the first place, but no long later, she perfectly completed the tasks offered by Shi and that impressed him a lot. He was also given an office to work in. Shi asked Xu to visit Sha and know more about the flicker of universe. During their conversation, Sha presented a theory that the flicker could be faked, but it required extremely advanced technology. Wang visited Ye again. There Ye told him that physics would still be existed, just in a different form. He also suggested Wang not to be too nervous since the evolution of science had always been built on the denials of old theories. Shi still suspected Ye. He looked through Ye's files with Wang. During The Cultural Revolution, her father Ye Zhetai, who was also a scientist was persecuted to death. The ones who pushed all this included Ye's sister and mother. Shi believed that this experience could have twisted Ye and affected her thoughts. At the same time, Shen got the order to make Wang stand by their side.

SPOILER: Wang presented his will to join The Frontier of Science to Shen. The latter gave him a website and stated the point that the website was his key to know the world of the highly-advanced civilization behind everything. According to Shen, it was a VR game that presented extremely authentic feelings. With the help of Shi, they got themselves some VR devices and logged in the game. Also, Xu was keeping an eye on Mu and discovered that she had a conversation with Pan Han who was a biologist. In the game, Wang was acknowledged that the players had only one main purpose, which was to find a way to predict the rise and set of the sun so that the people in the game wouldn't have to suffer from insecurity. People tend to dry themselves up when the sun sets so that they could reborn when the sun rises with their bodies drowned in water. Wang met King Wen of Zhou during his trip. The latter was on his way to present his self-made calendar to King Zhou, who was the ruler of Zhaoge and was the one to give the order to get his people reborn. Surprisingly, his calendar was proved accurate during the first few days. Therefore King Zhou gave the order to get his people reborn.

Episode 8

SPOILER: The civilization demolished in the game. Later, Wang were forced to leave the game. Wang is overwhelmed by how real the game feels, yet they can't find any information on the game developer. Sha invited Wang to the base again. He wanted to copy his daily routine of that day, so that he could see the flicker of universe again. Wang denied his theory but he seemed to be obsessed. As the scientists continue to suicide, General Chang Weisi decided to put top scientists in military custody for protection. Chang himself selected top-secret safe houses and used as many ways as possible to keep the locations secure. Mu met Pan and the latter provided her some information on the disappearances of the scientists. He wanted her to cover the story. Weirdly, Zhai Yiming who was one of the scientists found his sight full of sparks and was heavily injured due to this distraction. While Zhai was being escorted to hospital, Shi found Mu outside the safe house, taking pictures of Zhai. He arrested her and interrogated her with Xu.

Episode 9

SPOILER: Xu successfully interrogated Mu and got the videos she received from Hu Xiaoxi who was Pan's messenger. The video showed that all of Chang's safe houses went exposed. Considered about the security sets used by Chang, it's basically impossible to get those intelligence leaked. Meanwhile, the protection custody used by the governments across the world was exposed and well criticized. Later, Hu turned himself in. He was arrogant at the first place, but after interrogation, Chang found that he was just a loser who desired attention. He then let him go due to his worthlessness. Pan found Mu again. He offered her some secret environmental data and presented his extreme idea of environmentalism. After Wang's exposure, Wang and Shi decided to go straight to Shen's place. There they know that Shen actually offered Yang a job and she never thought that she would commit suicide.

SPOILER: Shi sent Xu to talk with Ding. Ding stated that Yang quit her job and stopped talking about physics after the death of Professor Munphy. She accepted Ding's proposal and they two were getting ready for their wedding and future life. This confused Shi a lot since Yang seemed to be hopeful for a while. After consideration, Shi suggested that the cause of Yang's death took place in the last three days of her life. Wang went to Ye in order to know more about her history. There he knew that during The Cultural Revolution, she was sent to work in a forest farm. He met a reporter called Bai Mulin who was working on the translation of a book called Silent Spring. They shared their ideas of environmentalism and Bai stated that it was such a waste for an astrophysicist to work in a tree farm. Also, Bai borrowed the book to Ye. This way, they stared to trust each other. Later, Bai decided to write a letter to the government in order to stop the damage of environment caused by the cutting of the trees. Bai's hands were injured during the labor. Therefor Ye offered to copy the letter for him.

Episode 11

SPOILER: Bai left the forest farm and headed to division headquarter. He promised that he would report Ye's status to the superiors. Later, Ye was called by her superiors. She was accused for reading forbidden book and writing a letter that delivered anti-revolutionary ideas. She claimed that Bai was the person who lent her the book. Surprisingly, the official found Bai as the witness to accuse Ye for stealing the book. In order to draw the line with Ye, Bai even threw the book at Ye. Also, the letter was indeed written in Ye's handwriting which gave her no further space to explain. She was later jailed in a room with no heat, which made her frozen. Suddenly, Cheng Lihua who was the military representative found Ye. She offered Ye a way out, but with one condition, which was to accuse her father as anti-revolutionary even after his death. Ye's mother and sister had signed the paper already, but Ye turned it down at last.

Episode 12

SPOILER: Shi shared his thoughts on Ye with Chang. He found that all traces led to Ye, which made it impossible not to suspect Ye. Wang went into the game again. He found that a new civilization had risen. A scientist called Mozi built a model which showed the structure of the universe. Mozi mentioned that the sun suddenly extinguished and the weather became extremely cold. At the moment, a flying star appeared in the sky. Wang pressed fast forward and eventually witness the destruction of the civilization with the sun approaching fast. While Wang was in the game, Shi was asked to take care of Doudou who was Wang's daughter. They had a great time together. During the process, Shi talked about his guilt of not taking good care of his own son. Later, Wang, Xu and Sha went into the game together. After discussion, they had a conclusion that the flying star appeared because the dying of the sun brought away the strong light that covered the star. In the conversation, Shi was acknowledged that the purpose of the game was to find a way to predict the coming of Constant Era.

SPOILER: After discussing with Sha, Wang, Shi and Xu left the base. Before leaving, Shi told Wang that he should ask Ye to play the game since she was an expert. Wang accepted the idea and contacted Ye. Wang invited her to his office. Through the conversation, Wang was inspired on the flying star problem and knew more about Ye's past at Red Coast. Yang Weining was a student of Ye Zhetai. He had great interest on theoretical physics, but he was afraid of being persecuted considering about the time. Therefore, he chose to major in applied physics. As a person with a kind heart, he decided to recruit Ye as member of Red Coast, which was a high level military base that majored scientific research. Ye fit the standard and it was her only chance of not being jailed. When Ye first came, an experiment was in process. A giant antenna was sending messages to somewhere unknown. This caught Ye's attention and she made up her mind of staying in the base for the rest of her life.

SPOILER: Ye kept working hard in the base, which made Lei noticed her. He insisted that Ye must be promoted, but Yang strongly disagreed. Liu was one of the researchers of the base. Due to his recent mistakes, he was criticized all the time. But by reading the log files, Ye found that he actually found out the way to rule out the mistakes, but that line of the log was eventually marked off. Later, she was acknowledged that Liu was leaving. She originally thought that it was Yang who cast him out, but later, she knew that Liu volunteered to leave. Yang explained his reasons of not letting Ye get promoted, since there was great dangers waiting ahead that she might never be able to leave. But after all, Ye took over Liu's job because the base was short of hands. One day, Lei went to her and explained the purpose of the base, which was to invent a weapon that would destroy the satellites of Soviet and USA. But later, Yang came to talk with Lei, which revealed that the purpose presented by Lei was indeed faked. Yang tried his best to keep Ye away from the core of Red Coast, only to protect her. That was where Ye's story ended. After knowing all this, Shi suspected that Yang Dong was Yang Weining's daughter, since they shared the same last name. All these coincidences made Ye the most suspicious person among all.

Wang Miao re-enters the game with his daughter's inspiration and Ye Wenjie's interpretation. Shi Qiang and Xu Bingbing become more suspicious about Ye Wenjie because of her financial aid to her niece, Chen Xue.

A Tri-Solar Syzygy (a straight line configuration of three or more celestial bodies in a gravitational system) ends Civilization No.184. Wang Miao is invited to a players' meet-up by the system administrator of the game.

Episode 17

Episode #1.17

Shi Qiang and Wang Miao embark on a mission to find Shen Yufei and Ye Wenjie. The Earth Three-body Organization is divided, hindering communication with the "Lord." Ye Wenjie establishes the Third Red Coast Base but receives no messages.

Episode 18

Episode #1.18

Ye Wenjie was moved by Lei Zhicheng's respect and trust. With Yang Weining's help, she discovered that Red Coast was searching for aliens.

Episode 19

Wang Miao and Shi Qiang share their information but Shi Qiang doubts it's all a coincidence. Ye Wenjie waits for ETO leader Evans at the Red Coast Base.

Episode 20

Episode #1.20

Wei Cheng's addiction to Three-Body computing led him to marry Shen Yufei. Wang Miao enters the game and realizes the problem's unsolvability, causing Shen Yufei's despair.

Episode 21

Episode #1.21

At an offline party for the Three-Body game, Pan Han reveals the reality of the Three-Body world. Wang Miao supports Pan Han and informs Shi Qiang about the event, exposing the Three-Body organization ETO.

Episode 22

Ye Wenjie pays her homage to Shen Yufei and learns about the Adventists. Wang Miao and Shi Qiang suspect divisions within the ETO. Wang Miao continues playing the game while the game server's location is discovered.

Clues link Chen Xue to ETO and the K1303 train killing. Wang Miao learns of the ETO gathering, and the Battle Command Center plans an arrest operation.
