In this somber 'Elsewhere' motion comic tale, Loki Laufeyson, God of mischief and evil, now sits on the throne of Asgard, with everyone he despises in chains, including his stepbrother Thor and stepfather Odin. Loki now faces the duties and hardships of being ruler, including possible executions of his adoptive family, all of which makes him realize that being King isn't what it's cracked up to be. When he learns from god Baldur that even fate itself is against him and his rule, he reexamines his difficult life and painful relationship with his domineering but not entirely uncaring stepbrother and makes a fateful choice to go against his predetermined grizzly fate. But which path to take in order to achieve this? The one of revenge and dominance by killing Thor or the one of hope and progress by making piece with him, if it's not too late?

Loki gloats to an imprisoned Sif about his conquest of Asgard. He reveals that he plans to execute Thor. Later, Karnilla Queen of the Norns confronts Loki to demand the release of Balder. Loki avoid her due to his youthful resentment of Balder and his popularity. Meanwhile a mysterious figure travels from Jotunheim to Asgard in search of Loki.

Loki refuses to free Heimdall to guard the Rainbow Bridge connecting Asgard to the other realms. Instead he plans to destroy the bridge. He consults Karnilla to see his fate and is disturbed to discover that he is destined to be chained and punished under a powerful serpent. Loki recalls his battle with Thor and worries that he will ultimately by defeated. He speaks to Frigga and later confronts Odin about his parentage. Later, the mysterious figure from Jotunheim reveals herself to be Loki's mother.

Loki speaks to his birth mother Farbauti who promises an army of Frost Giants to assist Loki in the conquest of the nine realms. Loki escorts her away and puts her under house arrest. Loki contemplates his loathing of the Frost Giants and later remembers his camaraderie with Thor. Hela appears and demands the execution of Thor. Loki refuses to put Thor to death and hopes for reconciliation with his brother. Thor, however, escapes with the help of his hammer and used it to defeat Loki.
