They detail the hardships the Pilgrims faced while trying to adapt to their new land, and how it was the help of the Natives Samoset, Squanto, and the Wampanoag Chief Massasoit that helped them survive. The special ends the next fall, when the Pilgrims share their bountiful harvest with the Natives in a feast of Thanksgiving.

Also featured is Lucy's report on the heroes of America, which include Susan B. Anthony, Clara Barton, Helen Keller, Martin Luther King Jr., Jonas Salk, and others.
