On a hot summer morning, young businesswoman Evelína Vosmiková is murdered in her car on Rohanský island. Shortly before, her and Holina's paths have crossed. This makes commissioner search for the perpetrator even harder. With his partner Divis Mrstík, he sets off following leads of Evelína's love relations, life letdowns, marriage gone bad and new hopes. Everything seems to indicate the culprit hasn't murdered for the first time. A twelve years old murder from the northern Bohemia, never solved, is similar in many regards. During the investigation, Rosta Bor, who is permanently disabled after an unsuccessful police bust two years ago, is added to Holina's team. Despite his handicap, he quickly becomes indispensable. His wife Sabina has more than just interest in astrology in common with Marián. An unexpected witness confirms the suspicions of the policemen, but the time plays against them.

Radek Ryba has done many public activities, he's gained respect and appraisal, he's not afraid of pushing his opinions. He's a thorn in the side of his political opponents, voices defaming his past sound from the ranks of the communists. Do the roots of today's murder lay in the totalitarian past? Holina's not sure about that. He searches for the motive in Ryba's marriage with a beautiful model, in his worsening financial situation, in secret blackmail. He visits Sabina's astrology lesson, to consult on the supposed motives of the murder with her and her students. But the number on Ryba's arm does not make sense. Why would a murderer mark his victim like a slaughterhouse cattle? A TV reporter from Televize Vize may know the answer, who the culprit contacts unexpectedly, and starts to lay down his cards in front of her. Cards with which nobody can win.

To walk down the stairs from Vítkov in broad daylight can be dangerous. Has the New Year's Eve murderer struck again? Before Holina asks himself this question, he has to familiarize himself with the bunch of people who were connected with the murdered Folík. Was his life partner more jealous than it seems? Was it the rivalry of the theater? Has Folík's tenant wanted to get rid of the rising debt? A second attack, this time on Vysehrad, does not keep anyone waiting. It bears many resemblances. Some connect the act with the brutal New Year's Eve murder. Or is it a woman? Sabina, whose relationship with Marián grows stronger, suspects that she's recently made the murderer's horoscope. Is it possible that it would belong to a young girl, who is interrogated in hospital by Holina after the Vysehrad attack? She's charming, sensitive and talented. As it is gradually uncovered, her life is filled with not just music, but hidden violence as well.

Two finalists of TV competition Pres cáru won't be fighting for votes of the viewers any more. Who eliminated them? The culprit must have a strange perversion. Why would he take one shoe off his victims otherwise? The investigation is complicated by having to cooperate with major Sotolová. Holina is in disfavor with her after an old case. They both try to forget about the past and cooperate. Participating in the competition has brought the murdered girls to the limelight, the murderer may be an obsessed stalker or a competitor who hasn't been so lucky. Not only the murdered Linda's diary, but also her horoscope, analyzed by Sabina and her students, will help Holina. Competition assistant, who knows more about the secret rules of the competition, gets to the front of the investigation. The criminologists ask in vain if the alibi of TV Zora's programming director and the producer are as rock-solid as they claim. Holina realizes he has to make use of a ruse.

The Christmas is merry, but not everyone's. A cruel death in the St. Barbara shelter is accompanied by sung carols and the scent of saffron. This expensive spice has been found during the autopsy in the stomach of Jonás Hejduk, who died at the Christmas Eve dinner. Who put poison in his fish soup? Agnieszka, Hejduk's new wife, seems crushed. They were planning new life together, wanted to have children, were looking forward to the future. Igor Pasák, a common friend, who seems to have been closer to Agnieszka after all, confirms this. Rudolf, Agnieszka's previous partner recently leaving jail, is not indifferent to her yet. Has he decided to win her for himself and his racket again? Rosta claims that Christmas are a catalyst of relationships. They are quickened by a death sometimes, by a holiday in Thailand, by a text message. A smashed nose and a blow to the ribs are also a part of Christmas. As well as a stolen Christmas present, which eventually gives away the murderer.

The goal is not the only thing that's being shot at at the hockey stadium. Has the youth coach really had an "abnormal" relationship with his charges? The father of one of the small hockey players claims this, but Holina has no proof. The murdered Dohnal has played second fiddle in everything. The second coach, the second treasurer, the second official of an ecological movement. He hasn't forced his way to the front, and still he's been pulling the strings. He must've been killed by someone who knew his real influence. Marián's work is complicated not only by a tooth ache, but also by the stubbornness of ecological activist Prokop and the lies of builder Gromes. The investigators are brought to a new lead by a policewoman from Litomerice and her inconspicuous neighbor. What are the roots of the tragedy that has befallen her recently? And where have the money stolen from Dohnal right after the murder gone? There are promises that cannot be fulfilled but mustn't be forgotten.

A night tram is good for both sleeping and killing. Has the murderer had a motive, or has he only thrived an adrenaline experience? The former senior neurologist Gabrhel has had many grateful patients and seemingly no enemies. He made himself up, founded a family. It is there Holina senses a dangerous tension. Why does Mrs. Gabrhelová spend so much time in the Bohnice psychiatric hospital? Is it hard to leave the ward without the staff noticing? Gabrhel's son, a surgeon, cooperates with the investigators from the beginning. His customs are strange. He goes shopping at midnight, he knows where does his father keep the cabinet key and has no restraints against breaking into his computer. A colleague of Gabrhel, Uhlírová, starts an intimate relationship with Marián in course of investigation. Is this a hidden strategy? Or is the truth known by Gabrhel's patients and their relatives?

The death of a policeman bears the marks of a revenge. Will the murderer be satisfied with one victim, or is he set on Holina too? It has been him who arrested Cenek Maras and charged him with murder and robbery of a loan shark. Cenek's brother Radim is no newbie in the world of crime. His predatory behavior, violent tendencies and vindictiveness may be the cause of the fire in the house of Stajfová, but Holina does not suspect he murdered his colleague, who has been shot with an arrow. Captain Osina from Zbraslav, who has taken over the case because of possible bias, insists that is a mistake. He follows Maras' tracks and really finds many leads. In the end, the Prague and the Central Bohemian investigators have to join forces. Together, they find Maras' girlfriend, the proof of his arson and leads to the loan shark murder. But Sabina sees religious motives in the murder of the policeman, and Maras does not have those. Where to look for the mysterious archer? What is the meaning of a deleted and rediscovered photo of a child in the dead's cell phone?

The school year ends tragically for the students of the seventh year. Everybody loved the murdered class teacher. Or did they? On the day of her death she has been giving out Fs by the blackboard. A video recording made by one of the students proves that without doubt. The teacher Neumaier, the father of the murdered, is a fan of astrology, thanks to which he can help Holina uncover the personality of his daughter. A romantic trip to Vienna enables Sabina and Rosta to visit the uncle of the dead teacher. He confesses that his niece has had a secret relationship. The horseshoe with profession of love and a ring found in a locked drawer point to that as well. Who has been the donor and why he must've stayed in secrecy? The school's vice-principal admits to having been interested in his colleague. Supposedly he's come to terms with her rejection long ago. Holina firmly believes that the disappearance of the seventh-year's student Jindra and the money missing on his father's bank account are closely related to the case. Arrest of the caretaker Zajícek uncovers the truth about the anonymous letters. Zajícek knows who has been the last visitor to the apartment of his neighbor. Her talking parrot knows too.

To down a few drinks, carelessly climb the roof and fall down looks like an accident. Hadn't the dead been clutching the trace of his murderer. The trace is a torn off T-shirt sleeve. But who has been its owner and why has Matej been chasing with him on the roof of a Nusle block of flats is a mystery to Holina. Not even Matej's girlfriend seems to know anything. Matej's co-worker Hoffmann and several old newspaper clippings lead the investigators to the explanation. Everything points to Matej being a hacker. The information on the web and a stolen text, which suddenly appears on the health insurance company, lead Holina to the Biophysics center. A team of top scientists lead by the director Eliás do brain research here. Holina discovers that the research is secretly subsidized by an American agency, which is tied to the military. What it is that the Czech scientists should give the American army? How did Matej come to know about the secret project? Is his co-worker Hoffmann in danger? Sabina finds the answer in Capek's novel Krakatit.

Who hides under the guise of the merciless attacker? Sabina's horoscope reveals just one part of the truth. The rest lies not in the stars, but as usual in the patient painstaking investigative work, in which will major Sotolová again become involved. Her suspicion is focused on alcoholic Rácek. He's already attacked once in front of the radio - in a mask, too. Rácek commits violence against his wife and cannot explain where has she gone. But there's also the raffle ticked found at the crime scene. Hamouzová, the widow of murdered lawyer, turns the investigation to an old case which also involves Rosta. Why does the executor Jesika blackmail Hamouzová? And then, what is her handwriting? The handwriting expert believes the murderer is a switched left-hander. The landlady Stajfová's stroke unexpectedly confronts Holina with her shocking past. Death plays unfair. It transcends the boundaries of profession and painfully steps into our heroes' fates.

A lover's rendezvous end in death. The St. Wenceslas' night covers the traces and he who attempts to read them must die. The death of young journalist Augusta suggests that the case he was working on could endanger the careers of many influential and powerful figures. He was silenced, but his brother, the colleagues from the newspaper and lieutenant Saidlová, who has investigated Augusta's disappearance, steer Holina in the right direction. It is no coincidence that Augusta was seen a lot around the faculty of economics before his demise. Student Erika, who has contacts with minister of state Cermák and other businessmen and politicians, clearly has an idea what happened before the brutal death of her friend Julie. But how to convince Erika to speak up? Fear forces her cooperation at last. The avalanche starts moving, but Holina is still not sure if Julie and Augusta were killed by the same person. Some of the threads of investigation lead abroad and others so high, that even direct evidence won't land the guilty in prison.
