On the day of his 32nd birthday in 1994, Glen, who is to become the richest man in Buffalo but currently still lives with his parents and spends all day watching TV and lazing around, decides to get a job to impress Alison, the girl he's been pining over for the last 20 and who just moved back next door. In the process he befriends Alison's son Josh and the two manage to arrange a double date between Glen & Alison and Josh & Vivica, a girl from Josh's new school who has the reputation of having "been around".

Josh panics due to having been invited to Vivica's house on Saturday, since she's so obviously "too hot" to go out with him and he's worried about what he'll have to do to her. Since Josh will be out that night, Alison decides to invite Glen over for dinner, which Glen happily agrees to. However when Miguel from the video store informs him that he'll be getting laid, due to divorced women craving "it", Glen starts to panic, as he's never "fornicated a woman". Hijinks ensue.

Everything his going wrong with Glen: his parents look like they're about to split up, his cat gets sick and might have contaminated him and he has to deal with the fact that Alison's boyfriend Gary is a really nice, friendly guy. But at least things are looking up at work, as he receives his first paycheck.
