Episode 1
Mothers and Daughters

Kat's life is slowly falling apart: she and Brady have decided to turn their one year separation into divorce in he and Rachel moving their relationship to the next level; in the changing face of print media, she has just been laid off despite being the paper's best reporter; and Alice has been acting out largely in the issues surrounding the family, she no longer pursuing the singing which she loved and is good at, and her latest stunt which has resulted in her being expelled. Despite their twenty year estrangement, Kat feels that widowed Del extending an olive branch is a good time to reconcile and move back "home" to rural Port Haven, New Brunswick with Alice at least for the time being, a move that doesn't sit well with Alice, who would rather be back in urban Minneapolis with her father than live on a farm in the proverbial sticks with a grandmother she knows in name only. With no job per se, Kat believes there's no time like the present to start the great American/Canadian novel. In the meantime, Kat searches for touchstones to her past, most mementos of her deceased father and brother now gone but she finding an unexpected one in childhood best friend turned science teacher Elliot, while Alice discovers the pond in the woods, not quite understanding what is happening when she emerges after falling into the water.

Scar Tissue

Kat and Del are still at an unsettled stage in their reconciliation, Kat thinking about leaving due to their issues above and beyond what was Alice's unexplained disappearance. While she balked to Brady about his most recent action to help her in getting her a book deal to write about Jacob's disappearance, Kat uses it herself to get people off her back, most specifically Del and Monica. Del, conversely, still wants to figure out who sent the letter to Kat, it at the most inopportune time due to what Del had long planned before Kat's telephone call, the event to occur in a few days away which she knows will cause a further rift between the two of them in their differing directions concerning Jacob. Meanwhile, Alice is able to confide in adult Elliot in she having confided in teenage Elliot, the adult version who probably remembers their encounter(s) in 1999. While he cannot provide her with any answers as to the mysteries of her time travel, he can provide her with some insights, including why her mother, who arguably named her after her 1999 teen friend Alice, can't piece together that they are one in the same.

I Don't Want to Miss a Thing

Del is presented with a conundrum on whether to let go of another touchstone to her and Colton's past when someone offers to purchase the boat having sat in her front yard for over twenty years, she long having believed it to be an eyesore but still one from their past. While Del also ends up dealing with the issue of who brought the potential purchasers to her attention, she gets some push-back from an unexpected source. Kat doesn't disagree with Del that she has to start doing something productive in this her new life. What Kat decides will be that option she has to reconcile with what was her professionally successful life back in Minneapolis. And quickly after one of her trips back to 1999, Alice feels the need to head back immediately in an issue surrounding Jacob. In the process, Alice learns something about the nature of her time travel, but not the reason behind it. She also develops her first case of puppy love, made all the more difficult in that the object of her affection is back in 1999. Being caught in a lie may jeopardize this part of her life being a secret between her and Elliot.

What's My Age Again?

Alice's current compulsion to go back to the past is to have the opportunity to meet the teenage version of her father at what was the beginning of his and her mother's romance. In an impromptu double date suggested by Kat with Alice and Nick the other couple, Alice will get a front row seat to the interactions between her mother and father at that time. Despite running into Andy, once in an unexpected manner, Kat is most preoccupied with finding out where Alice has been running off to in having caught her in a series of lies. What Kat discovers makes her want to bond more with Alice, and may forever change her relationships with Del but especially Elliot. And with Alice and Kat focusing on their own individual lives, Del is feeling abandoned, especially in her time of need in her heifer, one of the family in having a sentimental tie to her past, about to give birth.
Episode 5
Don't Dream It's Over

Kat is still wrapping her head around the ability to go back to 1999, and thinking that her situation may be different than Alice's in wondering if she can change the past, especially when it comes to Jacob. She also contemplates when would be the appropriate time to let Alice know that she knows about her being her teenage friend. Alice, conversely, is still wrapping her head around the fact that she doesn't much like teenage Brady and wonders if she can do anything about her parents' relationship back in 1999. She also learns that Nick, who she loves, has grown into an adult much like her parents and Elliot. As such, Alice does whatever she can to meet current day Nick, in her mind so that they continue their so-called relationship from 1999. These issues are colored by Brady's unexpected visit, which brings up old feelings between him and Elliot which comes to a head at the high school 1999-themed dance. And Del somewhat accepts Byron's request for a date, although that date isn't quite what Byron was expecting. Their time together is affected by Joyce and Jude deciding to close the Roxy, it going out with a special gala.
Episode 6
Building a Mystery

Plans for a meeting are underway to discuss the resurrection of the fall carnival, it which has been a sensitive issue for these twenty plus years when it was canceled due to it being the time and place of Jacob's disappearance. While Del has had to live with that memory all these years somewhat on her own as still living in town, she learns that it was something that affected many more people beyond even the sphere of their family. Meanwhile, both adult Kat and Alice are individually hoping to be able to stop Jacob's disappearance with their time travels back to 1999. Losing interest in Nick due to a present day issue, Alice knows that she is nearing the time of traveling back to the carnival in 1999 and can only ask teenage Elliot for help in being the only person in that period who knows her time traveling secret, not yet knowing that her present day mother also knows. Kat, a professional journalist, is spending all her time researching the details around the disappearance, she hoping that filling in the missing pieces may be the key to her being able to stop what happened. The key seems to be Jacob's best friend Danny Sawyer, who was purportedly the last person to see Jacob alive and who, because of the experience, has grown into a withdrawn young man.
Episode 7
The End of the World as We Know It

With both adult Kat and Alice's individual measures to change the past with respect to Jacob not turning out the way they had hoped, neither has the energy to travel back any more. Alice further is in limbo in not wanting to be in the present to deal with her mother in discovering her own time travels, while Kat will find that her singular focus on Jacob has its consequences. Both further reflecting on matters, they individually come to the realization that there are reasons for them to go back. Alice is surprised of the date of her next trip back, the issues surrounding that day for which she may be ill-prepared. And Kat discovers a new piece of information which she believes is related to that time period. Getting insufficient answers either in her own investigation with Elliot or in questioning her mother, Kat thinks the answers to her question lie in the past. Meanwhile, Del, in moving on with life, prepares for her pottery exhibition, the first in Monica's new series.

Lovefool

While Alice mentioned to her mother that the only reason now for her trips back in time are to support her teen self, her best friend, in her time of need, Kat stated to Alice in return that she no longer feels the need to travel back in time in having given up on trying to save Jacob. But upon discovery of information concerning her father, Kat, without telling Alice, decides to go back to discover what actually happened between her mother and father at what would become the near end of his life. In present day, Alice runs into a now adult Nick, their encounters, in which he shows no recognition of her beyond knowing that she is Kat's daughter, show her one last thing she needs to do with regard to teen Nick in the past. Kat and Elliot are on the brink of a romantic relationship, Elliot stating up front that he is waiting for the moment with her for "the perfect first kiss", for him worth the wait after all these years. And Del invites Byron to stay with her in his recuperation, this concentrated time together in what is Del and Colton's home which may show him more than her if there is a future for them romantically.
Episode 9
The Day the Music Died

With their time travels back to when would then be 2000, Kat and Alice realize that it is nearing the time of Colton's passing. While Alice only wants to say her goodbyes to Colton in whatever way she can, Kat is still determined to discover what happened to her father in wanting to dispel the rumors that he committed suicide, and in the process to stop his death from happening despite her attempts to stop Jacob's disappearance failing. She also wants to find conclusive evidence that she can show Del that Colton was not having an affair despite Del's assertions of seeing an unknown woman at his funeral combined with his unexplained absences just prior to his death. Telling a white lie to Del and Alice about her absence, Kat instead goes to her regular confidante, Elliot, both to stay with him for the weekend but throw a few time travel trips in in the process. Kat's fixation on the past has an affect on her relationships both with Alice and Elliot who need to know there is not only a present with her but also a future.
Episode 10
Not All Who Wander Are Lost

In being there when Colton died, both adult Kat and Alice can't help but feel guilty in believing that they each were the cause of what happened. Elliot, the voice of reason, has come to the understanding that what has happened has happened and would not have changed. In this understanding, Elliot comes to some realizations about his own life in relation to Alice in his teen life, and what they went through together with teen Kat. Still, Alice knows she has to be at Colton's funeral to support teen Kat, something that adult Kat knows in remembering back to the time. Adult Kat, however, doesn't want to tell Alice the further extent to what she knows about Alice in that past. Adult Kat also has to reassure Del about Colton's love for her knowing what she knows about the woman at Colton's funeral. In present day, Alice may provide that much needed touchstone to Colton for both her mother and grandmother.
