Rick and the survivors find a quarry with thousands of walkers blocked by heavy trucks, and he begins to plan how to take them far from their community. Rick is supported by Deanna, but the reluctant Carter unsuccessfully plots a scheme against him. While training the group, one of the trucks falls off the cliff, letting the walkers escape, and the plan needs to be immediately put into action without much preparation. Daryl on his motorcycle and Sasha and Abraham in a car herd the walkers through the road to a distant point far from Alexandria.

Out of the blue, they are attacked by the Wolves, who slaughter a great many of the residents. Carol, Maggie, Carl, and the survivors try to defend the community. Morgan returns and stops the truck horn that is attracting walkers from blowing and joins the fight.

Rick, Glenn, Michonne, and a group of Alexandrians are ahead of the herd of walkers that detached from the main group, attracted by the horn. Rick runs to the RV to guide the herd back while Glenn and Michonne lead the group back home. During their journey, they are attacked by walkers, and Annie and Scott are wounded and delay the group. Then they are under siege of walkers. Glenn and Nicholas decide to set fire to a building to attract the walkers, but their plan does not work as planned. Meanwhile Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham lead the heard away from Alexandria. When Rick is prepared to execute his new plan, he is surprised by the Wolves.

After losing his family, Morgan becomes an uncontrolled killer of walkers and humans. He stumbles upon a goat outside a house and tries to kill the owner. However the man subdues him and puts him in a cell in his living room. The man, Eastman, is a former forensic psychiatrist and tells that all life is precious; then he explains how the principles of Aikido have changed his life. Gradually Morgan calms down and Eastman teaches Aikido to him and tells the story of his life. When Morgan leaves the place, he is a man with a different philosophy of life.

After the attack of The Wolves to Alexandria, Deanna is totally disturbed. Aaron explains to the inhabitants how Rick has saved then from the walkers. Spencer avoids a pillage of the supplies by a group of Alexandrians. Maggie decides to seek out Glenn and Aaron goes with her. Enid leaves the compound and Carl decides to look for her. Spencer tells to Deanna that they are alive be because of Rick and his friends and blames her for the lack of security. Carl decides to look for Enid. Maggie and Aaron leave Alexandria through the sewage piping to seek out Glenn and they are attacked by walkers. They proceed and Maggie discloses a secret to Aaron. Ron asks Rick to teach him how to shoot; then Rick meets Jessie and they kiss each other.

After leaving the herd of walkers, Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham are attacked by strangers, and they split up. Daryl is captured by a group formed by a man and two women. Sasha and Abraham hide in an office. Daryl successfully escapes, but when the trio that captured him is in danger, he returns to rescued them. Daryl walks with his new acquaintances, seeking out Sasha and Abraham, but he is betrayed and loses his motorcycle and crossbow. Meanwhile Abraham has an existential crisis and leaves Sasha alone. But he resolves his issues, and finds a heavy weapon.

Rick and Daryl track him down and find him on the road with a flat tire. Carl and Enid go to the woods just to walk. Michonne sees Spencer sneaking out Alexandria with a shovel and she decides to go with him. Soon she learns what he is looking for.

While Michelle interrogates Maggie asking where she lives, Paula discloses briefly to Carol the story of her life after the zombie apocalypse. Carol has a bond with Paula but she needs to take a decision to flee and help Maggie.

Alexandria is in peace and people are living a routine life. Denise asks Daryl and Rosita to go to a little town nearby the compound where she recalls there is a pharmacy. Daryl and Rosita are reluctant to let Denise go, but she insists and they head to the location in an old pickup. The road is blocked with a tree and Daryl decides to walk on the road, despite Rosita insists that following the train tracks is half the way. They find supply in the pharmacy and decide to return to the pickup following the train tracks. Meanwhile Eugene and Abraham find a factory where Eugene explains that he may produce ammunition. When a walker attacks Eugene, Abraham protects him and Eugene is upset with Abraham since he wanted to prove that he can protect himself. They have an argument and Abraham leaves Eugene alone. Denise decides to retrieve a cooler in a car with a walker and Daryl and Rosita have to return to save her, but she kills the walker by herself. Out of the blue, they are attacked by a group led by Dwight. He shows Eugene and tells that Daryl and his group must take them to their compound; otherwise he will kill them. What will the group do? Meanwhile Carol is in an existential crisis.

Carol decides to sneak out of Alexandria early in the morning to leave their friends. Then Daryl decides to hunt Dwight down to revenge the death of Denise. Carol's car is intercepted by a group of Saviors in a pick-up, but she succeeds to lure and kill them except one that survives. Meanwhile Glenn, Michonne and Rosita decide to go after Daryl. When Rick and Morgan learn that Carol left Alexandria, they also decide to seek her out. Morgan convinces Rick to return to help to protect Alexandria. When Glenn, Michonne and Rosita find Daryl, they do not convince him to come back with them. Glenn and Michonne agree to return to Alexandria while Rosita stays with Daryl. But something unexpected happens with them.

Last Day on Earth

Morgan seeks out Carol and finds a horse in the field. He rides the horse and finds Carol wounded, but she does not want any help. When Morgan explores the place to spend the night, Carol flees and he has to seek her out again. However she stumbles upon Roman that promises to kill her. Meanwhile in Alexandria, Rick, Abraham, Sasha, Eugene, Carl and Aaron take the sick Maggie in a recreation vehicle to a doctor in Hilltop. However, they find the saviors blocking the road and they need to drive through an alternative road. Soon they discover that the Saviors have blocked all the possible routes. When the night comes, the group decides to carry Maggie on a stretcher through the woods while Eugene drives the RV to lure the Saviors. However they are captured by the Saviors that bring Daryl, Michonne, Glenn and Rosita to join them. Negan appears and tells that one of them will die? Who might be the chosen one?
