It is training day of combat for the Oceanside community. Judith finds a skin-made Whisperer mask on the sand raising tension among the survivors. Carol returns on a boat and meets Ezequiel and Daryl. When a satellite falls in the Whisperer side, there is a fire in the woods and the survivors are forced to cross the Whisperer border to fire fighting and extinguishing. They are also attacked by a herd of walkers and need to fight. Daryl and Carol walk to a cliff and Carol and Alpha see each other.

Lydia discloses that this type of strategy is unusual to her mother, who would rather send a massive attack. Gamma comes to Alexandria and tells them that they need to meet Alpha unarmed at the North border. Daryl, Michonne and Carol go to the encounter with Alpha, where she tells them that she knows that they crossed the border three times but she will not punish them. Meanwhile the resentful Aaron is assigned to fight the walkers with Negan in the South. Carol is keeping awake using medication and has hallucinations with the Whisperers.

In Hilltop, supplies are being stolen. Ezekiel is coughing and Siddiq discovers a secret. Negan meets two survivors. Amelia and her son Milo, and asks Brandon to return to Alexandria. He gets close to the boy and intends to take them both to Hilltop but something tragic happens. Daryl, Connie and Magna find Kelly and the supplies that are missing. Negan goes to the border to meet the Whisperers.

Negan is tested by the Whisperers and surprisingly survives. Eugene makes contact through radio with a mysterious woman.

They try to open a way out from the mineshaft but the claustrophobic Carol tries to bomb the horde with an old dynamite that Kelly had found in the mine. She drops the dynamite and the mine collapses with Magna and Connie inside. Meanwhile Negan and Alpha have intercourse in the woods.

Gamma goes to Alexandria and tells to Rosita and Gabriel that their friends are trapped in a cave with the horde of walkers, but Gabriel arrests her in the cell. Meanwhile Daryl sees Alpha leading a group of walkers and they fight. They are both wounded and Daryl flees to an abandoned mechanical shop in a gas station. Beta breaks into Alexandria through a tunnel and kills residents, turning them into walkers. Daryl and Alpha are dying in the gas station when Lydia arrives and rescues Daryl.

Then Daryl and Lydia arrive and disclose that Alpha, the Whisperers and the horde of walkers are coming. Daryl flees with the children but finds that the road is blocked. They decide to stay at Hilltop and fight the enemy.

They organize groups of two to cross the horde and reach the wagon, but Beta discovers the plan and send Whisperers to kill the infiltrated survivors. Meanwhile, Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko and Juanita reach the train yard where Stephanie scheduled their meeting. Out of the blue, the group is surprised by an unexpected heavily armed group of soldiers.

There is tension between Maggie and Negan increases and Carol heads to Alexandria. Maggie goes with Daryl, Kelly and her friends Cole and Elijah to bring her son Hershel and the rest of her group to Alexandria. When they are arriving at the muster point, they see fire. They find the bodies of two of her friends, the place burned down and Hershel and Maggie's group missing. Now the team will cross the dangerous woods trying to find Hershel and the missing persons.

He discloses to her that five years ago, when Rick was missing, he stumbled upon a woman named Leah and had an affair with her. They mismatch each other and he tried to find her along the years.

During the night, Aaron goes to the toilet and Gabriel sleeps. When he wakes up, Aaron is missing and a stranger with a a shotgun brings his arm. Gabriel asks for Aaron, and the stranger questions his faith. Soon he brings Aaron tied up to a chair and raises a dispute between them two to prove that mankind is evil.
