A beautiful young woman overhears the Smurfs bemoan their problems. After meeting them in the forest she offers them a solution: a magic orb, which she says will help them deal with their problems. By touching the orb, it will help them accomplish more work, cure writers block and help them stay awake. The orb seems to work for awhile, but it isn't long before the four Smurfs need to touch the orb again. Papa Smurf and the other Smurfs quickly sense that the Smurfs are behaving erratically, and Papa realizes that it is the fault of the orb. Papa orders Lazy, Painter, Poet and Handy to never again touch the orb, warning them that the consequences could be severe. The four Smurfs disobey Papa, and eventually accept the woman's invitation to her home. There, she reveals her true colors: She transforms from her beautiful, young guise into an evil witch, and plans to enslave the Smurfs. Papa Smurf and the others are forced to ride to their rescue and defeat the witch. In the end, Papa helps Lazy, Painter, Poet and Handy realize that some of their problems are a part of life, and they need to ask for help if they need it.
