Double Down

It's the day of serial killer Rosalind Dyer's trial, so LAPD assists the sheriff's department with transport court house security. A well-reputed attorney helps her overpower the deputy after demanding opportunity to change into civilian clothes and switch outfits, so she can escape during a fake fire alarm. Tim and Chen's 'pondered practice kiss' takes a backseat to their actual undercover, as the crooks change the rules last-minute, so Lopez wants to call it off, but Thorsen has a private jet available so the police can follow to Las Vegas, where the local PD is involved.

Labor Day

Assistant DA Chris Sanford recovers from his injuries. Lucy hesitates to go to undercover school, despite encouragement. Playing his golden ticket, Nolan passes his TO exam, is scheduled to attend a certification course and allowed to be Aaron's TO as a trial run. Responding to a welfare check they discover a deputy sheriff's corpse. Tim's ensuing investigation finds that the deputy and a group of his colleagues worked undercover against drug dealers, but kept cash and sold drugs they confiscated, proven by the killed deputy's recordings of his interactions with corrupt colleagues. Harper is home and due to give birth, but becomes suspicious of her and James' neighbors. Once gun shots are heard, Smitty investigates, but doesn't find any evidence. Harper later reports to Grey the neighbors putting a corpse in a car trunk. The night she is due to give birth, the neighbors break into her house and one of them figures James just as Grey arrives. Harper tackles the second man on her own and delivers a girl. Aaron assures insecure TO Nolan that his tactic was beneficial and instructive.

Dye Hard

A month later, Nolan has completed his TO certification, Lucy her undercover course and Harper maternity leave. Nolan is assigned as rookie impulsive, superstitious Celina Juarez, making a rocky start after a traffic stop gone awry: the vehicle contains a blood stained carpet, but since she obtained it in an illegal search, it's inadmissible in court. The carpet is also linked to the disappearance of Jill Baskin, Harper's case. Together with Lopez, they all follow Jill's suspected abductor Tyler Harvin undercover, but he escapes. Looking through evidence, Celina dreams where Jill could possibly be held. Nolan gives her a chance after updating their working relationship based on open communication, and the two search a property in the woods, where they find Jill. Celina pursues Tyler alone and would be killed in a fight with him hand't Nolan located her and arrested Tyler. Patrolling solo, Lucy gets locked inside an old warehouse while conducting a welfare check, has an epiphany after looking through a document from the 'Dye Hards' online group Chris joined looking into Rosalind Dyer. After Tim smells a rat and finds her, she and Chris approach the FBI with the suspicion of Rosalind being a user in the group, which trails to an address in Seattle, where a joint team with local police finds a blood written message from Rosalind on a wall saying "Better luck next time".

The Choice

Responding to a supposed medical emergency, Bailey falls into a booby trap through the floor of an old house. During her more challenging joint rescue by the fire and police departments, Nolan receives a blackmail call from Rosalind to sneak off and meet her one last time, if he fails of tries anything, Bailey will die. The rescue team discover obstacles at every turn and the tank begins to fill up with water. Nolan leaves clues for his colleagues, but his trail ends being asked to drive a van to Rosalind's location. Harper, Lopez, Aaron, Laura Stensen and Brandon Acres from the LA FBI office, investigate a warehouse where Rosalind's henchman Jeffrey Boyle has stored materials for building booby traps for her victims. The former three spot and chase Jeffrey, who triggers explosives which detonate the warehouse. Luckily all of them get out in time. With notes of how the traps work, the rescue team disarms other traps while activating a last one before Bailey is recovered from the tank. Nolan arrives at Rosalind's meet up location to share a last supper before he is meant to kill her. Moral Nolan decides rather to bring her in, but a sniper fatally shoots her.

The Fugitive

Bailey treats a man injured in an accident and brings him to the hospital when they arrive she leaves the ambulance. The man wakes up and attacks the one watching him. She reveals she noticed the man was shot. It is discovered he committed a crime and was shot. He ran into the hospital so everyone shows up to find him. Tim collapses and is brought to the same hospital. He is told a bullet that's still in him is moving so he needs to be operated. Lucy is worried. West goes to visit Tim but he collapses too and is confined. So this means the station is in the hands of Smitty so West tells Lucy to go back and make the place doesn't fall apart. When Angela's mother is injured she's brought to the same hospital. Angela thinks something's off her mother tells her she was attacked and the attacker said it's because of her son. So Angela gathers her three brothers and interrogates them to find why their mother was attacked and it doesn't help she has issues with her brothers.

The police guide Pam to a secure spot for the bomb squad to attempts handling the collar, but the bomb goes off, killing her, actually on a timer. Tim and Lucy discover the next driver Creighton Mitchell, also with a collar around his neck, who panics, grabs some garden shears and manages to get the collar off, then identifies the assailant as Richard Dormer, a colleague at an oil company both marks work for. Richard's motives stems from his sister Susan dying in captivity abroad and the company unsuccessfully negotiated her release. Nolan, Celina, Harper, Lopez and Aaron arrest Richard at his home without resistance. His last target is the company CEO Henry Parsons, who must live-stream an apology. The police evacuate the company building and Nolan works to disarm Henry's collar to Richard's instructions while Henry complies, but Celina senses that Richard wants to see him dead despite the apology; so Nolan cuts the other cable, fortunately. Chris proposing house hunting to Lucy takes her aback and she struggles sorting out her feelings for him and Tim, who duly questions her and plead honesty. Thorsen asks to join Harper and Lopez, desiring to become a detective. They give him an old case to 'solve' by asking only five questions.

At their bank teller, Harper and James land themselves in a middle of a heist committed by so-far bloodless serial robber Todd Shelf with three associates. Harper has an employee trigger the silent alarm, so police cars arrive. Todd escapes with Roger Armistead, but leaves him behind. The LAPD soon realizes this wasn't just for cash but something invaluable in a safe locker and collaborates with FBI agent Simone Clark and her superior/training FBI Special Agent Carter Hope. They track an unusual money wiring to Taylor Barnes, who reveals he hacked the FBI's undercover agents and informant list to sell to the highest bidder. Taylor is shot by a sniper before he can reveal the buyer. Tim, Lucy and reinforcements surround Roger taking a hostage in a neighborhood. Bradford distracts him and Roger is arrested. Todd's unidentified third associate, Amy Wright, escapes from ER and reunites with Todd. They push Tim and Aaron's patrol car nearly off a parking garage roof, but they narrowly get out. Shortly after, Nolan and Celina find Todd's corpse in the truck he and Amy stole.

The Naked and the Dead

Tim must step in as baseball coach as his sister's son Tyler's walks out of the looser bunch, and gets help from Lucy as his instructor toughness doesn't kick in with minors. Lopez's brother Damian asks her to look for a kid gone missing from his local shelter. She and Harper learn that he, Matteo, was involved with the gang Quinlan Rights. They, Nolan and Celina search an abandoned building were Matteo's phone last pinged, discovering his corpse packed liked a cocoon along with other bodies. While Moses Warden, Quinlan's rival, denies any wrongdoing. Just then, Quinlan's men come shoot up the workshop. The gang's informant Ricky reveals that Elijah Stone told him to inform the police about a drug bust, effectively orchestrating the gang war in order to clear his name. Hosting the Citizen Academy at the station, Lucy suspects attendees Kyra Cook is facing domestic abuse after she raises a question about it. Lucy convinces her to go to a shelter, but Kyra leaves after an incident with staff, calling again when she again faces abuse from her 'boyfriend' Oliver. Lucy arrives at their house and fights Oliver and arrests him, but Kyra holds her at gunpoint. Lucy manages to talk her down before arresting her as well.

Lopez's LAPD and Matthew Garza's FBI team in a task force put everything on the line to help Elijah Stone take down La Fiera's heiress Abril Rodas in exchange for Lopez's safety as part of an elaborate operation, with Wesley informally offering Abril a similar deal. Garza's team moves to use Abril's girlfriend Daylin as bait for Elijah. But the night he arrives to have Abril shot, he withdraws last minute mistrusting a unintended distraction caused by Aaron. Secretly, Elijah offers Abril to work with him.

After a shootout ensues Elijah subdues Harper, but Lopez wounds him and they arrest him. Monica contacts Abril offering her 'legal' assistance. Nolan re-opens the file on Celina's sister Blanca's murder and they discovers a new lead, which fractures the previous alibi. Nolan learns from a witness that he and Celina's mother Carla Juarez were taking opioids together, both addicted but cut-off after medical treatment, leaving the sisters home alone, during which Blanca disappeared. Carla is brought in for questioning and admits the truth.

Double Trouble

Lopez finds that Celina's missing kid sister's abduction fits a pattern of annual cases dating back years before, all abducted on the same day of the year and all the victims being from drug-addicted parents. Nolan and Celina get a call about another such missing child. An older officer shows up at the scene, whom Celina recognizes and trusts from her case, but he makes Nolan suspicious by asking to enter the scene against procedure, as if to destroy evidence. Grey questions the retired investigator about Celina's sister's kidnapping, leading the team to a serial sex offender suspected, but never tied to the case. Harper's detailed questions about the Juarez case catch him in a lie raising suspicions higher. He's releases to be tailed, but uses his police skills to break it. Lucy finds a recent case he worked on, clearing a house of squatters a few miles from the abduction. The team surrounds the house and talks the officer into letting the victim go, but when they move in, he points his gun against Tim, who shoots him. Lucy offers to help Tim get through the experience, and he offers to help her study for her detective exam.

Tim's ex Isabel asks him to help find missing Dara Tesca, whom she looked after during a past assignment. They and Lucy find Dara fled home, hiding in a motel Isabel used to bring her to for safety. Upon securing Dara, Isabel and Lucy must reveal their real identities to help her escape hitman sent by her uncle Ed to murder her father, who had her uncle killed, and Isabel promises to stay in touch. Grey assigned Aaron to assist Lopez during her day due to her second pregnancy, but lets her stay at home until the birth. Harper and Nolan assist skip tracer Randy, who stumbles upon a corpse after breaking in. The victim trolled people online, which Randy was asked to investigate. His constant interference with their investigation forces them to take him along, but at bay. Randy deduces that a friend with prior history cryptically threatens him through emojis and plans to row him up in order for Nolan and Harper to arrest him. Bailey's friend from college, Libby, is crashing with them and is dragging her around L.A., attempting to relive their college days and avoid her own problems, culminating in a meet-up with an untrustworthy man leading to Bailey's arrest after a fight with the man who runs away. Libby decides to return home after accusing Bailey of being an alcoholic, to continue avoiding both her problems and taking responsibility.

Going Under

Nolan, Harper and Celina tackle a cold case favor involving a severed torso, searching wounds up a arm belonging to it and two friends of the victim. Video footage in their possession reveals that they accidentally shot their friend and cut his body up and hid the parts. Lucy goes undercover as a sales agent in order to gain Frank Tesca's interest following his release from prison. He asks her to take some under payment in favor for products from her company. Frank learns that his brother's crew is after him, while some of his own men also turned on him. After a drive-by shooting, he knows which associate was behind it, Lucy stops him from killing him as Tim's metro squad arrives. Frank concedes that he has lost control over his crew after his prison time and Lucy encourages him to reconcile with his daughter in Ohio. Wesley duly suspects pregnant Angela can't keep quiet without doing some police work 'behind his back'. Luckily Aaron is eager to assist her 'as educational practice' with detective work while she is at home, and questions a reluctant witness of a robbery, leading to a corpse in a vehicle with and a workshop with a decreased suspect. He solves the case and seven other tie-ins. Nolan duly points Celina to a foxy dog owner witness showing interest leading to a date.
