Harper learns her new partner is a rookie who was accused but acquitted of murder; she's predisposed to give him the boot but he's determined to prove himself worthy. Angela and Wesley find having a baby harder than they thought. Nolan runs into Bailey and asks her out but things don't turn out so well.

But they learn a few things which makes them investigate. Thorsen runs into an old friend who asks him to go out with her. Harper tells him to be weary cause not too many believed him to be innocent. Harper gives Angela a case about a man who was ran over and then abducted. Wesley continues to be under Elijah's thumb. Chen tries to be friendly with Thorsen.

Cause she feels the spirit is gone and says the building* is haunted. Which she tells Chen who doesn't believe it. But learns her Building has an eerie history. Chen learns her mom has made a life decision for her. When people start behaving erratically, they suspect a designer drug. When they get a lead. Nolan turns to Pete, a recovering addict for help in finding the dealer. Harper goes trick or treating with her daughter and her ex.

Bradford is tasked by Grey with the worst kind of sergeant's job: talking veteran officer Jerry McGrady into retiring,but instead of being blunt takes his old mate McGrady with him on patrol, reminiscing and preparing a fine send-off. Grey admires Nolan, Chen and Harper cleverly investigating a treasure hunt for a gold loot from a jewelry heist, based on a cryptic poem which Nolan and Harper found with a suspect. Bradford and McGrady join the hunt on a wager to find it first, as McGrady rightly links evidence from an old case. They gradually decipher the poetic clues, finding civilian gold-diggers who get as far causing havoc and harming each-other. Nolan, Harper and Chen track the clues to an old abandoned 1920s subway, and are forced to tackle two men who end up in a brawl. McGrady's daughter Ashley hints to Bradford that she's interested in him. Nolan, Bailey and Lopez continue the investigation into the previously mentioned inter-state serial killer, who Nolan suspects to be Bailey's superior, fire lieutenant Fred Mitchell, having discovers acetone similar to the one used by the killer in his garage as he hosts a barbecue, and Bailey gets caught searching his house illegally. Just as the police arrive with a search warrant, the house explodes.

The police corner and hoot Reynolds aboard the Battleship USS Iowa Museum. Tim helps his sister in renovating the house, but refuses to visit their father, and openly endorses Nolan for union representative against the long unchallenged, lazy incumbent. Lopez builds a RICO case against Stone, but learns that Evers told Grey, who plans to use Evers as an informant.

Off duty, Tim Bradford and Chen help his sister Jenny refurbishing their childhood home. Tim stumbles upon a gun in a wall, and investigates. The gun was probably used by Bradford's dodgy father Tom in a botched home invasion 25 years ago. Tom had an affair with the neighbor's wife, who later confessed to having shot her husband 'in self-defense', which Tom helped her cover it up. Bradford visits his father on his death bed to learn the truth, but still doesn't make up. Grey initiates Evers' wiretapping operation, but his cover is blown by drug baron Elijah Stone, who threatens Evers' family. Next Stone and his crew are attacked by a rival gang, which Stone reveals to be led by La Fiera's former security enforcer Abril Rodas, who warns Lopez not to hunt her down. Nolan finally presents Bailey to his son Henry and considers proposing to her, which Henry approves of. Suddenly, a man walks up to the lovers in a restaurant, revealing himself to be Bailey's husband.

She gets injured and goes to the hospital and is given life changing news. Chen still tries to help the young man she arrested avoid being convicted of a felony by talking to the D.A. She and Bradford are called by Lopez to a crime scene where in a young girls body is found. Lopez tells them that Tamara knows her so they talk to her who tells them she lost contact so they investigate. Thor den is being hounded by his mom to do a reality show to fix his image.

Tim and Chen discover a severed hand on the beach, which belonged to Mark Klinke, who got himself to a hospital before dying. His lawyer desperately seeks exclusive access to culprit Chester Frey's house, which Lopez denies. Frey had obtained multiple human arms to test if they could be healed and animated. Bradford and Chen ambush and arrest him in the morgue. Grey accompanies 'carabiniere' (Italian paramilitary police) detective Romeo Cabarelli hunting down wanted mobster Kai Zullo; however, upon them finding Zullo, Cabarelli fires on him without signs of him pulling a gun. Grey learns Cabarelli is under investigation for misconduct in Italy. Grey, Nolan and Harper trick him into a staged arrest of Zullo, leading to exposed Cabarelli's own arrest.

So they check it out and learn hes lying and That there's another job So they have to Find out where it is. Thorsen and Harper are assigned to watch over a convicted cop killer who was sent to the hospital because he was Injured a riot. He asks Thorsen to talk to him and he claims That he was unfairly convicted. Thorsen asks Wesley and James to meet the man and they think hes telling the truth but Harper warns Thorsen he could get In trouble pursuing this.

A vice investigator tells Nolan and Harper that Flynn was involved in prosecution in addition to her own business, clashing with dangerous thugs, the biker gang Dead Bastards even invested in her nest capital. At a hotel, they ambush and arrest Flynn but thugs attack them, Kaufman snatches away fleeing Flynn for the bounty, but Nolan saves them when ambushed in the parking garage and learns a rivalry twist in his own living-room. Lopez gets Grey to recommend Wesley as 'legal advisor' in a TV lawyer series, but the Method actress lead Sabrina Fowler (playing Margo Caine)'s uncontrollable behavior keeps putting him on edge. Bradford and Chen look for restaurant worker Jordan Conner, who unleashed rats in the restaurant where she worked after getting fired and throwing a Molotov cocktail into a man's car. She had cancer before learning about unhoped remission and describes her own actions as 'creating karma' against various people who disowned her when all seemed hopeless, unrepentant at arrest. After questioning Tim what to do, Chen tries to find her biological father and learns from aunt Amy that he was a patient that her 'faultless' mother had an illegal affair with.

Thorsen's Plain-Clothes Day gets tough as his mother's film crew following them, also bumping into and must arrest for attacking police the father of Patrick Hayes, the friend whom he was accused of having killed, but they decides to let him go in a matter of hours. As Grey heads to court to testify against a powerful mobster, leaving Tim in charge. While Nolan mans reception, 'helped' by lazy Smitty, the man he ordered back in line is found dead on a chair, actually poisoned, while a woman is killed in a drive-by - both are witnesses in the same case. Grey is shot and wounded by a female assassin, whom he manages to wound and ultimately kill in return. In a raid, the LAPD uncovers burned documents pointing to attorney Kellen Myers, who sold the names of the witnesses and the prosecutors to Mateo Rubio for cash. Myers also reveals that Assistant District Attorney Sean Delmonte is on the hit list. Delmonte and Chris Sanford manage to avoid a second assassin upon his arrival and hold out until Bradford, Lucy and other officers arrive and apprehend him. Grey contemplates retirement when he awakes in the hospital and soul searches seeking advice from Nolan, returning the favor Grey did him after Nolan's first on-the-job kill.

The Thorsen family's reality show crew interviews Bradford, Nolan, Evers and Lopez about the crime investigation after its director Morris Mackey's murder in Thorson's parents' home. Aaron himself is a suspect, again. The case rehashes the still unsolved murder of Aaron's best friend Patrick Hayes, whose father is questioned, as well as Thorsen's buddies in Paris, since the police suspect the murders are connected. Thorsen's mother was in Paris when Patrick was murdered, for a sexual fling with a French footballer. The French chief investigator Olivier Marceille is criticized for ignoring potential suspects for the Hayes murder, notably the finance minister's son. ** SPOILER ALERT ** The police find Thorsen's friend Rowan Clausen committed both murders, abusing his role as instigator for friend activities, to create opportunities to smuggle drugs on Thorsen's private plane. Rowan killed Hayes for discovering and threatening to out his smuggling operation, and then Mackey for figuring out he was behind the first murder.

Things start going wrong at the hospital as Jonah Russell hacks the system to put his dying wife Meredith first on the list for a transplant. Officers can't talk him and his wife out of their plan, so despite instituting contingency plans, patients start dying and the hospital agrees to give the heart to the wife. Nolan must arrest the teen's father attacking Jonah and the transplant team, but the teen gets the wife to change her mind. When arrested Jonah tries to release the hospital, his ransom-ware partners still demand money, but IT and Tim's team find and arrest the pair.. Harper and lover are at the same hospital due to potential pregnancy complications, asked to mind pre-teen Rory Kane, she resorts to her badge to prevent his parents taking the boy home for 'prayer healing' and learn from Grey he was actually abducted at age three, born Scott Reynolds. Lucy is scheduled to give a deposition about her kidnapping for additional charges against Rosalind Dyer, watches the video of her barrel ordeal and decides not to testify in the case, but happily encourages Tamara Colins to flirt with handsome, also eco-minded legal intern Austin Geoffrey.

When they talk to him they don't make a connection but Clark who's watching suggests a different approach and she gets him to say that her attacker is the same one the Feds are looking for.

Tim, Lopez, Harper and Chen find both crimes were planned and executed by a couple, who post some social revenge message. Grey and Nolan clear an apartment and the surrounding areas to set up a boundary for gang informant Daniel Tran, who turned witness but didn't realize the strictness of the protection program. DA Sean Delmonte reluctantly allows Tran to visit his mother, Nolan and Grey find him at her stud farm and must take out two goons sent to kill Tran, who escapes sneakily followed by a third, whom Nolan manages to disarm him to save Tran. Bradford and Chen trail the robber couple Monica and Jonah Cahill to a church, where they force forward their own wedding, but Monica spots them, triggering a shootout. Jonah is shot and injured, while Monica escapes; Jonah is transferred to a surgery, Lopez lures Monica to another patient's room before arresting her. Evers decides to transfer to a regular position at the DA's office after his mother suggests it's the only chance to help present clients to fairer trials.

They decide to send Tim undercover. After meeting the one behind it. Tim needs to stay under a while longer and Lucy joins him. Nolan arrests a criminal who tells him to let him go. And his people show up trying to convince Nolan to let him go by offering money and threatening him. He doesn't budge but knows he's going to be on his own.
