An Irish soap opera set in the fictional town-land of Leestown in County Kilkenny. The main focus is on the eponymous Riordan family.. The middle-aged parents Tom and Mary Riordan are living in the traditional way for farmers and are politically conservative. Their eldest son and intended heir Benjy is still living with them and is following in their footsteps, but he has a relatively modern worldview and is open to new ideas. Benjy's younger brothers Michael and Jude have left the family farm to build careers of their own, experiencing adventurous but rather unstable lives. The supporting cast includes the radical priest Father Sheehy and the local gossip Minnie Brennan, who is considerably older than everyone else in the area.
