The Dream

Dr. Jules has an eccentric new patient (Lucille Ball) who claims to see visions of her own death. When she correctly predicts that a chandelier will fall, Dr. Jules starts to take her seriously. With the date of her predicted demise fast approaching, she is hospitalized, where she undergoes emergency brain surgery, saving her life.

Dr. Jules needs his gall bladder removed and objects to his son performing the surgery. Once admitted he unsurprisingly proves to be a difficult patient. But Murphy, his philosophical roommate, helps to change his attitude.

Carlotta, an old girlfriend of Jules, reappears and is intent on making the physician her next husband. Carlotta promises a large donation to the hospital if Jules agrees to marry her.

Jules decides to help a retired friend, Dr. Harrigan, who is complaining of boredom. Jules shares his office space with his colleague but Harrigan and Bedford's style of practicing medicine soon clash.

David and Jenny are troubled by the twenty year estrangement of Jules and his brother Harry. They try to reconcile the two which goes well at first until Jules learns Harry tried to pay an old debt with a bad check.
