The case is a challenge for Julia Thiel, because her mother of all people is a "legal adviser" to the main suspect. To cap it all, her adolescent daughter is proving difficult, having found out she's having an affair with her Polish colleague.

After work, they make their way home together on their bikes. Shortly after the girls have parted ways, Jadwiga is ambushed, drugged and kidnapped. Julia Thiel survived her serious accident and regained her strength in rehabilitation. At her own risk, Julia releases herself from the clinic and drives home. There, Karin Lossow has meanwhile taken care of Julia's husband Stefan and granddaughter Sophie. The search for the missing person is the first job that Inspector Thiel is now taking on again. Jadwiga's friend Christoph Dierwald fears the worst. Nevertheless, he takes part in a demonstration in front of the Ostseeklinik. Christoph is a radical "life protector" who protests against Polish-German "abortion tourism" on Usedom. The Polish gynecologist Malgorzata Kaminska works in the Ostseeklinik. One morning she is standing at Karin Lossow's garden fence and is looking for contact. Malgorzata was the lover of Karin Lossow's husband, whom she shot eight years ago, but she brusquely rejects Malgorzata. Nevertheless, Karin decides to visit the doctor and get involved in a conversation. Shortly thereafter, Malgorzata is found dead. Ex-prosecutor Karin Lossow comes under suspicion. Julia and her mother must once again face the darkest moment in their family history.

Karin Lossow has made friends with the young Pole Halina Czechowska. When Halina has to have an operation, Karin looks after her eight-year-old son Tomasz. As she drives home with the boy in the car, they meet a wrong-way driver near the port. Karin tries to avoid - in vain: her pick-up rolls over. When the former public prosecutor regains consciousness, Tomasz has disappeared. Commissioner Julia Thiel is under pressure. The trial against Simone Simmank for arson is pending. Julia knows that the young woman is innocent and thinks she knows who the real culprit is: Jackie, her daughter Sophie's first love. The 18-year-old is withdrawing more and more and isolating herself. Julia suspects that Sophie is involved in the case .
