New Year's Eve in Madrid: Ana is celebrating her 30th birthday, but she's not really in the mood to party. She lives in a shared apartment, works as a waitress, and watches the people around her shape their lives while she herself is still searching for her place in the world. After midnight, she moves on and meets Oscar. It's his birthday too, but at first glance he seems more settled: he's a doctor, has a stable circle of friends and is in a relationship. Following Catalan tradition, the two eat twelve grapes, share their wishes and resolutions for the new year and engage in endless conversations. The magic of their encounter begins to take effect.

New Year's Eve, one year later: Ana and Oscar meet again, this time at a festive dinner with their now mutual circle of friends. Much has changed, but everything seems to have become more complicated. Oscar is back together with Vero, but their relationship is still in crisis. Ana, on the other hand, has accepted an attractive job offer in Spain instead of emigrating to Canada, and has met a new partner. Despite everything, the attraction between Ana and Oscar is unmistakable and palpable for everyone. When Vero casually learns that the two spent last New Year's Eve together, the situation finally escalates into an open conflict in which everyone finally speaks their mind.

After an odyssey involving smashed car windows and classified ad fraud, the apartment suddenly has no hot water. This leads the two into a dangerous situation in which Oscar has to provide medical assistance. Despite their seemingly endless bad luck, the two stand by each other and turn every obstacle into something positive. Encouraged, they want to take the next step in their relationship.

However, when Oscar recalls scenes from his childhood, his mother interprets them very differently from him, causing old conflicts to resurface. Starting with minor family idiosyncrasies, an intense discussion develops about major philosophical topics such as loyalty and conformity. But it is not only the past that causes tension; the future also raises questions. Ana receives an attractive job offer in Edinburgh. Although she insists she doesn't want to leave Oscar, the decision weighs heavily on her. Between plans for the future and New Year's resolutions, their young relationship reaches a turning point.

Her mother mourns the death of her father, while Ana is torn between her desire to support her family and her professional commitments. She tells her mother how uncertain and lost she feels. Something essential is missing in her life. But right now, a big change is on the horizon.

On the way home, Oscar confides in Ana and speaks openly, as he rarely does, about his doubts and fears. He still finds it difficult to trust other people. Ana, on the other hand, looks ahead with hope and is contagiously optimistic. Will their romantic relationship get a new - and final - chance?
