Episode 1
The Mystery of the Taken Boy

The team investigates a vehicular homicide. Witnesses says the victim was acting strange, one witness, a mother who took her son out, says he was looking at her strangely. They learn that the victim was a convicted sex offender. They talk to his girlfriend who says he was wrongfully convicted, and that he was trying to get his life in order, but when she tells them what she thinks he was doing, it doesn't jive with what he was doing when he died. They find that he had pictures of the boy he was looking at when he died. So they assume the boy was about to be kidnapped which is what happens. So they try to find out who did it. Jake tries to come back but his replacement reminds him that his leave still has a week to go but Jake decides to stay and help with the investigation. He later learns the Captain has no intention of leaving.

Jake gets Hauser released to help them because he worked the original case and he is sure that the man who was killed is the killer. But a man who's fascinated with the case, says that the man who was killed didn't fit some the criteria they had on the killer. And it all checks out, so did they kill the wrong the man. Hauser is sure they did. But Laura says the main concern is finding the girl.

Someone calls Laura and leaves a message, When she hears it, the voice sounds familiar but can't remember from where. the one who calls says he needs help and then a shot is heard. She figures out where the caller is and finds him dead. She then goes to his place and learns how she knows him; he's her sister's boyfriend. It seems like her sister is a problem. She goes back to where the man was shot and it turns out he was shot outside her precinct and a detective from that precinct shows and is upset with Laura. Santiani has her on desk duty. But she sneaks out to find her sister and does and brings her in. She doesn't want to talk. Later they learn her boyfriend was selling counterfeit medicines. They also learn that he was trying to double cross the man he works for who in all likelihood is the one who killed him. And is also targeting Laura's sister. To get him, they have Laura's sister introduce Laura to the man as a new customer.
Episode 16
The Mystery of the End of Watch

Following Santiani's death, the team investigates. Laura thinks the man she arrested sought revenge, so she tries to find him and when they do. they question him. He says he didn't order the hit and the shooter was not after Laura; Santiani's the target. So they try to find out who would have wanted Santiani dead. They go talk to her son and he's not there apparently he left abruptly. They check his room for fingerprints and find his father's. Apparently Santinai kept him away from their son so they think he abducted his son. When they find him, he claims he didn't kill Santiani and Laura believes him but thinks he is holding back some info so she tries to get him to say what he knows.
