He begins with marriage, wondering whether he is wrong about not wanting to tie the knot with his long-term girlfriend. In Delhi, he gains an insight into arranged marriages by going on a date with a prospective wife - and her parents - and in Bangalore, he is asked to help a pair of elite wedding planners. He also sniffs out a scientific approach to finding the perfect partner in LA, before searching for an alternative way of getting hitched in Las Vegas.

From here Karl travels to South Africa, where he meets a self made businessman, Kenny, and gets to live the life of luxury. Karl meets Kennys' business associates and spends a night at one of their clubs. Finally Karl travels to Los Angeles in search of his own American dream - by attempting to become a model.

Karl travels first to Ghana, where he shops and orders a custom made coffin. Here he attends his first ever funeral and becomes more involved than he anticipated. From here Karl travels to Taipei, Taiwan and hires a professional mourner and accompanies her as she performs at a memorial service. Karl then travels to Philippines to experience what it would be like for the dead to buried amongst the living and takes part in a exhumation. Karl becomes involved in the difficult task of erecting a coffin in the cliffs. Finally Karl travels to England and receives the coffin that he ordered in Ghana, and proposes an alternative approach to remembering the dead - a bin memorial.
