2006:- Julien shows Tony photos of Greg Halpern, Emily's supposed lover whom he savagely beat up six years earlier though no charges were pressed. Emily feels left out and berates Mark for not doing more whilst Tony is curious as to why Ian is being so helpful. Tony breaks into Bourg's flat but finds nothing and is thrown out when Bourg returns. An undercover cop from Paris arrives with possible news for Julien but is murdered. 2014:- Julien suggests they should find residents who might have seen Oliver going into the basement . Emily arrives and is sceptical as to any result but then Julien shows Tony a video of Oliver in a house. Suri visits Ziane, who is now in prison and claims he knows what happened to Oliver, before visiting Bourg, who is having treatment for his paedophilia.

Julien interviews Rini; A further clue is provided by the sighting of a van owned by Karl Sieg, a suspected trafficker, seen outside the house where Oliver was photographed; Tony visits Ian and learns that he's helping, as his daughter, Molly, vanished years earlier.

In 2014 Vincent Bourg visits Garrett's wife Mary, and Rini is able to help locate the suspect Karl Sieg, living in Belgium under an assumed name. This is an advance on eight years earlier when her efforts to sound out her brother about the Romanian gang had disastrous results. Emily goes to England to see Mary Garrett, and Tony takes matters into his own hands.

2006: Tony comes to and fights Garrett. He returns to Emily, who tells him Garrett's alibi clears him of taking their son and who also lies by saying Tony was with her at the time of Garrett's disappearance. The Hughes return to England and Julien goes to visit his drug addicted daughter in hospital. He is attacked by a masked man. 2014: Julien and Tony locate Karl Sieg but he has little to give them, beyond the fact that he was called in to clear up blood in the house where Oliver had been held. He does however incriminate Ziane.

Tony and Emily are having marriage problems but then a surprise turn of events brings both Tony and Emily back to Chalons du Bois. In the present day, the information that Tony, Julien and Emily received offers them a tenuous lead.
