Episode 1
After All These Years

The season premiere starts out 3 years after Season 3's end. The Earth kingdom has fallen into anarchy due to the fall out of Season 3's finale. This episode sets up Earth General Kuvira's (aka Great Uniter) mission to reunite the Earth Kingdom.

Korra Alone

Korra is struggling to recover from her encounter with Zaheer. During her recovery, she continues to have painful memories of the Red Lotus destroying her physically and emotionally. Korra immediately gives up her role as Avatar by donning earth kingdom clothes and cutting her hair short to prevent anyone from identifying her. During her journey, Korra tries to reconnect with Raava and she encounters a familiar face who might be able to help her.

The Coronation

Prince Wu's coronation doesn't go as planned when Kuvira deems Wu to be unfit as king, due to his great aunt's tyranny three years ago. At the swamp, Toph helps Korra get her back into fighting shape. Meanwhile on Air Temple Island, Tenzin assigns Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo to find Korra.

The Calling

Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo set out to find Korra. During the journey, Ikki gets into a disagreement with her brother and sister. Ikki is briefly captured by two Earth Empire soldiers. Based on what the soldiers said earlier, Ikki leads Jinora and Meelo to the Foggy Swamp in hopes of finding Korra. Meanwhile, Toph tries to help Korra overcome what her past enemies did to her. Korra manages to track Tenzin's children from the banyan-grove tree, they beg Korra to resume her role as the Avatar and stop Kuvira. Toph helps Korra successfully extract the poison by herself and she is able to enter the Avatar state again. Korra thanks Toph for everything and she goes off to Zaofu to stop Kuvira.
Episode 5
Enemy at the Gates

Su refuses to turn over Zaofu to Kuvira, causing more tension between the matriarch and the former guard captain. Korra finally arrives at Zaofu in hopes of stopping Kuvira from taking Zaofu. Korra meets up with Su and her family, the matriarch explains to Korra that she had a meeting with Tenzin and Raiko about the fate of the Earth Kingdom. Raiko convinced Su to become the interim leader of the Earth Kingdom. However, Su declined the offer because she didn't want to be seen as a conqueror. Kuvira tried to convince Su to take up the offer of becoming the interim leader because the world has been at war for sometime and the Earth Kingdom has began to deteriorate because of Hou-Ting. Su tells Kuvira not to bring up the subject again, but the former guard captain went behind the matriarch's back and she began to conspire with Baatar, Jr. into fixing the Earth Kingdom. Su tells Korra that Kuvira has managed to get Zaofu's most wealthiest citizens and security team to join her cause. Concerned about Zaofu's fate, Korra decides to talk to Kuvira into leaving Zaofu alone, but the former guard captain refuses to step down. Meanwhile, Bolin, Varrick, and Zhu Li try to escape the Earth Empire army but they are soon caught by Baatar, Jr. and they are placed under arrest for desertion. Zhu Li immediately sides with Kuvira. Baatar, Sr. informs Korra that Su, Wei, and Wing plan on ambushing Kuvira. In Republic City, Asami reconnects with her imprisoned father, Hiroshi.
Episode 6
The Battle of Zaofu

Suyin and her sons are arrested while attempting to stop Kuvira. Korra, Opal, and Jinora try to convince Kuvira to release Suyin, Wei, and Wing. Determined to not let Kuvira take Zaofu, Korra challenges the former captain to a bending duel. Kuvira begins to gain the upper hand against the Avatar. At the last minute, Korra uses the Avatar state and she immediately tries to put a stop to Kuvira. However, Korra becomes plagued with another horrifying vision of herself. Opal, Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo take Korra back to Republic City. Meanwhile, Bolin and Varrick successfully escapes Kuvira's army. Kuvira forces Zaofu citizens to submit their allegiance to her and she assigns Baatar, Jr. and Zhu Li to recreate the spirit vine super weapon.
Episode 7
Reunion

Korra finally returns to Republic City, she reunites with Mako and Asami. However, Korra, Asami, and Mako must work together to rescue Prince Wu from Kuvira's agents. Meanwhile, Bolin and Varrick are on the run after deserting Kuvira's army. Along the way, Bolin and Varrick must help refugees who have escaped Kuvira's re-education camp.

Remembrances

Wu begins his exile with Mako's family. During a training excercise, Wu begins to learn about Mako's past. Mako tells Wu about his time competing in pro-bending and dating Asami then Korra and breaking up with the two of them on good terms. Meanwhile, on Air Temple Island, Korra begins to question her role as the Avatar with Asami and how the world has been out of balance because of Amon, Unalaq, Zaheer, and the Red Lotus. Asami encourages Korra not to give up because the world still needs the Avatar. Asami tells Korra that she managed to stop Amon, Unalaq, Zaheer, and the Red Lotus. Korra promises that she'll do everything she can to restore balance and stop Kuvira. On a refugee ship, Varrick discusses his next mover with Bolin and the refugees where Bolin fights Korra's past enemies. When Bolin tries to tell his story more accurately, the refugees immediately dismiss Bolin's story and they prefer Varrick's storyline

Beyond the Wilds

Spirit Vines have been capturing tourists, including Jinora, due to Kuvira tampering with the spirit vines at the Banyan Grove Tree. Korra tries to go to the spirit world in hopes of freeing Jinora and everyone else from their spiritual prisons. Korra ends up having another mental block of Zaheer trying to kill her. Mako decides to help Korra confront Zaheer in prison. Korra visits a restrained Zaheer at his new prison cell, the air bending criminal notices that the avatar hasn't been in the spirit world for three years. Korra angrily states that he tried to destroy her and she sarcastically thanks him for killing Hou-Ting and for letting Kuvira take power in the Earth Kingdom. Zaheer realizes his mistake and he agrees to help Korra overcome her mental block. With no options left, Korra accepts Zaheer's help, she is able to enter the spirit world again and she is able to reconnect with Raava. Korra is able to release Jinora and everyone else from their spiritual imprisonment. Outside the mountainside prison, Korra is finally able to accept what has happened to her. Meanwhile, Bolin and Varrick return to Republic City in hopes of warning everyone about the spirit weapon Kuvira is using to destroy the city. Bolin reconciles with Mako and Korra, but he is struggling to make amends with Opal. In Raiko's office, Asami has agreed to put aside her disdain towards Varrick in order to stop Kuvira. At Air Temple Island, Bolin apologizes to Opal for everything and he admits his love for her. Opal decides to let Bolin accompany her and Lin to save the Beifong family in Zaofu. Bolin readily accepts to help Opal save her family from Kuvira.
Episode 10
Operation Beifong

Bolin accompanies Lin and Opal on a daring rescue mission to save the rest of Beifong family members from Kuvira. Along the way, Bolin finally gets to meet Toph. It is soon discovered that Zhu Li has faked her alliance with Kuvira, in order to destroy a dangerous weapon that Kuvira plans on using to destroy Republic City. Meanwhile, Korra tries to contact the spirits to see if they can help her on stopping Kuvira, but the spirits refuse to be involved in human conflicts, due to Unalaq manipulating them earlier during Harmonic Convergence.

The Last Stand

Following Hiroshi's sacrifice, everyone has made it inside Kuvira's mecha suit. Korra fights off Kuvira in the cockpit. Lin and Suyin disable the cannon by metal bending it from the inside, Kuvira discards the arm with the Beifong sisters inside. Mako overpowers the core with lightning, causing it to explode and the giant mecha suit breaks. Korra is able to get Kuvira out and she tells Kuvira to surrender, but she refuses to surrender to the Avatar. Kuvira attempts to finish off Korra but she loses control of the cannon. At the last minute, Korra uses energy bending to counter the beam and she ends up creating another spirit portal. Kuvira realizes the error of her ways and she surrenders. At Air Temple Island, Bolin officiates Varrick and Zhu Li's wedding. Wu tells Mako and Korra that he plans on abolishing the monarchy, Korra readily supports Wu's decision. Afterwards, Asami and Korra go on a vacation to the Spirit World, they start a romantic relationship together.
