Korra leaves the safety of her home and travels to bustling Republic City to begin her airbending training. Once there, she is shocked to find a big city full of dangers, including criminal bending gangs and a vocal anti-bending revolution.

Korra is living with her airbending teacher Tenzin on Air Temple Island. Frustrated with her inability to master airbending, she turns her attentions to Republic City's famous Pro-bending Arena. There she befriends two brothers, Mako and Bolin, who compete in professional bending matches. Korra is immediately drawn to Pro-bending's dynamic fighting style.

When Bolin is captured, Korra and Mako find themselves on the trail of Amon, the masked leader of the Equalists. They gain entry to "The Revelation," a rally of anti-bending supporters, where they discover that Amon has an ability that should be impossible to anyone but the Avatar - the power to take away a person's bending, permanently.

Korra starts having nightmares of Amon taking her down. Korra takes up Tarrlok's offer on joining his task force in order to take out Amon. After some success on the task force, Korra challenges Amon to a duel, she is ambushed by Amon and he threatens to destroy her if she gets in his way again. Afterwards, Tenzin comforts a traumatized Korra over her ordeal with Amon. Meanwhile, Mako is trying make ends meet by working at a power plant in order to pay off his team's debt in pro-bending. Mako meets Asami Sato, who is the daughter of the wealthy industrialist. Hiroshi agrees to sponsor the Fire Ferrets.

As Asami steals Mako's heart, Korra struggles to express her feelings for Mako and also at the same time Bolin tries to win Korra's heart by being brave enough to ask Korra to go out with him. The tension gets higher as the Pro bending tournament starts.

With the pro-bending arena closed, Korra invites Mako and Bolin to stay on Air Temple Island, but the brothers decline Korra's offer and they tell her that they are staying at the Sato estate with Asami and her father. Bolin persuades Korra to come to the Sato estate and she agrees. Korra and Asami begin to know each other. However, Korra overhears Hiroshi conspiring with equalists on the phone, but her friendship with Mako becomes strained. One of the workers at Future Industries is able to provide some crucial information to Korra, Lin, and Tenzin about Hiroshi's association with Amon. Korra, Lin, Tenzin, and the Metal Bending Police Force investigate Hiroshi's underground work space. Hiroshi soon reveals his intentions to everyone, including Mako and Bolin. Asami soon realizes her father is conspiring with Amon and the equalists, she immediately sides with her friends. Mako apologizes to Korra for not listening to her earlier, he decides to move to Air Temple Island with Bolin and Asami. Mako comforts Asami over her father's betrayal. Lin becomes distraught over not doing her job and she decides to resign from her position.

Episode 8

Asami, Mako, and Bolin move to Air Temple Island after finding out that Hiroshi is an Equalist conspirator. Korra, Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo welcome their new guests to the island. Meanwhile, Saikhan has been appointed Chief of the Metal Bending Police Force and Tarrlok smugly worms his way into controlling Republic City by creating ridiculous laws. Korra and Tenzin become suspicious of Tarrlok's true intentions. At Air Temple Island; Mako, Bolin, and Asami encourage Korra not to give up and they tell her that the world needs the Avatar again. Korra and her friends form the new Team Avatar to stop equalists, this does not sit well for Tarrlok and he arrests Mako, Bolin, and Asami. Korra and Tenzin try to bail the three out of jail, but to no avail. Korra angrily tells Saikhan that he is the worst police chief, Tenzin agrees with Korra's statement. At Air Temple Island, Korra is frustrated with Tarrlok's corruption and she confronts the Northern Water Tribe Representative in his office. Korra engages in a heated battle with Tarrlok, she finally gains the upper hand. Tarrlok subdues Korra with blood bending, he restrains the Avatar and he drives her to a place where no one can find her.

Episode 9

Tarrlok imprisons Korra in a platinum box to prevent her from escaping. Following Tenzin's earlier advice, Korra begins to figure out the mysterious visions she's been getting from Aang. Tenzin, Lin, Mako, Bolin, and Asami try to search for Korra at an Equalist faculty. It is soon discovered that Tarrlok has been behind Korra's kidnapping and he has framed the Equalists in order to cover his tracks. Korra soon discovers something startling about Tarrlok.

Korra has returned safely after being imprisoned by the disgraced former councilman, Tarrlok. Korra tells Tenzin, Lin, and the rest of her friends about Tarrlok being the son of the late fugitive criminal, Yakone. Tenzin and Lin ask Korra where Tarrlok is, she informs the air bending master and metal bending chief that Amon and the Equalists showed up to Tarrlok's cabin. Amon took away Tarrlok's bending and the Equalists tried to capture her, Tenzin and Lin become alarmed over the revelation. At the same time, Amon and the Equalists invade Republic City. Korra and her friends try to stop the Equalists from causing anymore harm to the city.

Episode 11

Korra and her friends go into hiding with Gommu after Equalist activity continues to escalate in Republic City. Korra and Mako have been disguising themselves as chi-blockers, so they can monitor what's been going on within the city. Korra becomes impatient over waiting to take down Amon. Mako tells Korra that the United Forces will be coming and Amon will be the one who is on the run. The next day, Korra and her friends see the United Forces, but they are soon ambushed by the Equalists. Korra manages to rescue General Iroh from drowning. Korra is still determined to take Amon down and Mako decides to help Korra stop Amon from causing anymore harm. Asami, Bolin, and Iroh head to Hiroshi's secret airfield on Naga. Korra and Mako hide at Air Temple Island so they can ambush Amon, but the two encounter Tarrlok. Mako and Korra asks if there is any prisoners here, but Tarrlok reveals he's the only prisoner here. Tarrlok reveals he is Amon's brother, which shocks Korra and Mako. Tarrlok reveals his whole life story and that Amon's real name is Noatak. Tarrlok soon apologizes to Korra and Mako for his actions towards them, he acted like his father. Korra realizes that ambushing Amon is a bad idea, but they discover that there is another advantage on defeating Amon. Korra and Mako decide to expose Amon as a bender at his rally. Korra thanks Tarrlok for giving them the information they need, she soon feels compelled to release him, but the former councilman decides against this. Tarrlok encourages Korra and Mako to put an end to his late father's vengeance campaign. Korra and Mako leave the attic and they go to the rally to expose Amon.
