Johnny sings "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone," and "Cry" for Jack and the performance is so devastating, Jack is turned into a helpless bowl of jelly. Jack pays him $15,000. At the end of the show, Danny Thomas makes a guest appearance to plug his show The Danny Thomas Show (1953).

Reading the morning paper, Jack spots an article that describes a forthcoming film starring Irene Dunne that will co-star Vincent Price. Jack confronts director Gregory Ratoff, insisting he replaces Price with Jack. Failing that, he insinuates himself into a script reading at Irene's house, desperately trying to compete with Price.
