Outside the Comfort of Your Kitchen

Mon, Jul 29, 202454 mins

This week's challenges are all about getting the cooks outside of their cooking comfort zones. As such, the first challenge, for which they have sixty minutes, is the annual recipe swap where each cook will prepare a dish using a recipe submitted by one of their competitors, they who are allowed to use the recipe submitter as a resource, and who are to put their own spin on the dish. They also all learn the advantage in this challenge provided to the winner of last week's second challenge. And for the second challenge for which they also have sixty minutes to complete, each cook is to prepare a dish inspired by a friend. Part of the judging will again be how they place their own stamp on what was the foundation provided by their friend. They also learn that they will all be in the kitchen for one more week, after which Alejandra will announce which three cooks the judges have decided will move onto the finale the following week.

Defining Firsts and Family

Mon, Aug 5, 202454 mins

The cooks have only two more challenges to impress the judges before the judges make the announcement of which three will make it into next week's finale. These last two challenges arguably are the most important thematically as they show the judges how they've evolved as cooks and what is inherent to them as cooks. For the first challenge for which they will have sixty minutes to complete, each cook will prepare a dish of discovery as something different than what they would have normally prepared. While this first challenge shows how they have evolved as cooks, the second challenge will show who they truly are as each is once again given sixty minutes to prepare a dish that is in their proverbial DNA, something that they could probably prepare figuratively in their sleep with both hands tied behind their backs. After the completion of the two challenges, Alejandra and the judges discuss the seven week evolution of each cook before making the announcement of which three will be going into next week's finale.

It's the season 3 finale, and the final three standing are Marcella DiChiara, Jon Hinojosa, and Adjo Honsou. As such for their first challenge, the penultimate one of the season, for which they have sixty minutes to prepare, each cook is asked to make a dish incorporating those ingredients included in their care package. For their second challenge, the final one of the season, they will have ninety minutes and a sous chef familiar with the pressures of this specific kitchen to prepare what is their Great American Recipe. The three (or in this case four) dishes are served at a Great American Recipe season 3 family dinner. After deliberation by the judges, Alejandra makes the announcement of this season's winner.
