Nashville, TN - "Lost and Found on Jefferson St."

People are flocking to Nashville - Music City, USA. And yet of the tourists, transplants and dreamers come to town completely oblivious to the origins of that name. We discover the true history of music city through Jefferson St. the cultural center of the black experience in Nashville.. before it was erased by the construction of Interstate 40. We explore the lost history of the Jefferson St. Sound with Lorenzo Washington, founder and owner of Jefferson St. Sound Museum. We then get a glimpse into the future of Jefferson St. with Saaneah, the new ED at Jefferson St. Sound Museum. Jefferson St. is more than music, Dr. Learotha Williams, Professor of African American History and Studies at TSU, takes us on a mural tour of North Nashville to explore its rich cultural history and learn about its untimely demise. This culminates when we meet up with artist Woke3 at his massive legacy mural. We end up at TSU where Dr. Williams describes the critical role of HBCUs across the country through their connection to the past and present of civil rights.

Cape Canaveral, Florida - "Space Force, Go for Launch"

The Good Road goes to Space. Well, almost, we go to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to learn about the critical role of the newly created Space Force. From national security to every single rocket launch, Space Force Guardians are here to serve. We also discover the surprising roles they play in our everyday lives. Rocket and Missile Museum Director Jamie Draper takes on a journey through the nascent stages of the space program to show us from whence we came as we embark on becoming an intergalactic species. We meet Guardians from the newly created Space Force to understand the critical role they play in protecting the infrastructure 100 miles above us that we use every day. We learn about the important role Space Force plays in the private public partnership that has made rocket launches a weekly event in sleepy Florida. Media operations Director Heather Scott gives us the rundown on an impending Falcon 9 launch from our forward position less than 2 miles away.

Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico - "Salt of the Earth"

A journey through some of the unique ecosystems of Puerto Rico that highlight the critical role government agencies, University initiatives, and local communities play in the efforts of conservation and the fight against climate change. Rene of University of Puerto Rico's Sea Grant takes us into the salt flats of Cabo Rojo. It's the rare instance of a commercial operation having a beneficial impact on the local ecosystem. Rene then leads us into the wildlife refuge for migratory birds that encompasses the salt flats to learn about the many partnerships and efforts that help maintain this complicated ecosystem. Anna of US Fish and Wildlife explains the threats that haunt this unique landscape that contributes to the extreme biodiversity of the area. On our final stop with Rene, we explore the mangrove fields of La Paguera to further understand the delicate balance of conservation and community.

Charleston, South Carolina - "Gullah"

An exploration of the myriad ways that Gullah traditions and practices impact contemporary arts and culture in the low country. Nakia shows us the deep African roots of the traditional sweet grass basket weaving process. Marcus Middleton prepares a one pot dish in the Gullah tradition on his family land deep in the low country. Quinten Baxter, producer and drummer of Grammy nominated Ranky Tanky, proves the Gullah tradition is alive and well in his music. We also learn how his parents inspired him to give back to the community he grew up in by establishing a music school and performance space for underprivileged kids. Quinten Baxter takes us to a beloved Charleston haunt to hang with an artist, chef, and restaurateur and discuss what makes this complicated place the best city on the planet.

Cocoa Beach, Florida - "The Overview Effect"

If travel changes you then traveling to space changes you completely. Here we explore the overview effect, in which people who travel to space develop a new perspective on what it means to call Earth home. We meet the educators, entrepreneurs and rocket scientists taking the next generation of men and women into the cosmos We meet Jane and Tabor who founded the start up Space Perspectives with the intent to facilitate as many people experiencing the overview effect as possible. They hope to achieve this with high altitude balloons that ascend into the stratosphere and change their passengers' lives. Janet Ivey of Janet's Planet and Explore Mars teaches us about space - the gateway drug to science. She expounds the critical role of space education in the next generation of explorers as humanity strives to go beyond our pale blue dot. We travel to Kennedy Space Center to explore the ultimate journey through NASA's Artemis mission. The first manned mission to the moon in over ½ a century and humanity's stairstep to Mars.

San Juan, Puerto Rico - "Island as Identity"

Puerto Rico occupies a unique place in American identity. Wholey American and yet uniquely apart. We explore this paradise through the lens of anti-colonial art in the heart of San Juan, ex-pat poetry and spoken word in the shadow of the rainforest and independence minded activists at an old San Juan watering hole. La Bruja, "the witch", takes us on a spiritual journey of art and identity through El Junque - the only rainforest that is also a US national park. We then discuss what it means to be Puerto Rican for her, and the 1000's of other Puerto Ricans living on "the mainland". Daniel Lind Ramos discusses his work at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and how he confronts the legacy, and reality, of colonialism. His work explores the impact of violence and oppression, and marginalization perpetrated against a whole people and the role it plays in a population's identity. In an old haunt on a well trafficked cobblestone street Tito Kayak regails us with the tales of activism and defiance that made him famous in Puerto Rico. Some very unique beverages from our dedicated bartender loosen his tongue and we learn that his fight for Puerto Rican independence continues to this day.

Richmond, Virginia - "Holy River"

The James River is the reason for Richmond's existence, and yet, in the 1970s it was one of the most polluted rivers in the country. We meet the activists, organizations, and scientists that transformed it from a D- to a B+ with hard work, perseverance, and art. Holy River is an experimental folk rock band composed of partners Laney and Jameson that leverages their music and art to communicate a message of balance in the bedlam of modern life. Laney and Jameson take us on a journey through the Richmond parks system to see first hand the value of the James River watershed. The James River Association is a well organized group of full time activists, ecologists, educators, lawyers, environmental evangelists and river keepers that have fought for the vitality and health of the river for decades. They take us on a tour of their beloved James. The sturgeon whisperer may have a PHD and decades of experience, but Matt Balazik mostly wants to talk about fish sex... or reproduction rather. Matt and his brother grew up on the James and have spent most of their adult lives tracking and researching the resurgence of Sturgeon - the amazing fish that survived the meteor that killed the dinosaurs but was almost wiped out by humans. We close off with a round table discussion at Hardywood Brewery about why the river is so important to the communities it touches... not the least of which is that it provides clean water to make the beer we're drinking.
