Alana is a teenage girl living in the peaceful world of the year 3000. When her friend Tulista takes part in a time travel experiment, she returns as a prisoner of Silverthorn, a native of the year 2500. Silverthorn kidnaps Alana and takes her to the year 1990.
Episode 2
A Primitive and Dangerous Time

Alana awakes in a dirty industrial part of town knowing that she has been sent back in time, but not sure what year she is in. She takes some fruit from a nearby fruit stall, not knowing that she is breaking the law. The fruiterer chases her to the back of the Kelly Deli where she is hidden by Jenny Kelly, the daughter of the deli owner. Jenny and Alana return to the rubbish dump where Alana landed, only to find the time capsule being covered with earth. Then, as Jenny watches in horror, a bulldozer bears down on Alana.

Sanctuary

While Alana tries to save her capsule she runs into some serious danger, so Jenny has her hands full to take care of Alana. If that wouldn't be enough for Jenny, she runs into more drama at home, with her alien obsessed brother and her exhausted mother.

Sweetness and Fright

Irene has come up with a plan for Alana: she has to go to school with Jenny. There Alana has even more trouble fitting in. However that's not the only problem Alana has as she soon gets sick. A familiar face shows up and Alana doesn't know what to do.

Don't Tell Mum

After telling Alana that the time capsule is buried in the dump and gone, Silverthorn explains to her his plan to control the world - but he needs her transducer. With Jenny's help, Alana escapes, taking a printout Silverthorn had in his possession. The girls return to Jenny's home, and after an elaborate explanation for where they've been, Alana has Jenny destroy the transducer to keep it out of Silverthorn's hands. The next morning, Alana recognises the front page of the newspaper as being identical to Silverthorn's printout. She realises that Silverthorn still has the time capsule and is using it to find out what is going to happen in this world before it does, and making a tidy profit. If Alana can find Silverthorn, she can find the capsule.
Episode 6
Computer Games

The girls are in trouble as their teacher, Mr. Rooney, catches them hacking into the police computer. Despite that incident, Alana and Jenny manage to find Silverthorn's office. Not only there, but also at home, further trouble awaits the girls.

Stake-out

The girls stake-out Silverthorne but on the first day Jenny loses him. It's Petey who comes up with a new idea while they are putting junk into their shed. So the plan is set and this time when Silverthorne drives off, attached to the back of his car is a dripping can of paint.
Episode 8
Newsprobe

Petey manages to create a distraction allowing the girls to once again escape from Silverthorn. Back home, Jenny's mother Irene is getting set to go out with...you guessed it...Mr James Rooney. While the girls go about telling Irene about the capsule, James turns up and she decides to tell him to truth about Alana. James has the idea to do a news story on the show 'Newsprobe'.
Episode 9
Truth and Lies

The news story back fires when Alana goes to do a second interview and the transducer doesn't work. The Children's Welfare department turns up to investigate, finding no record of Alana's birth. With no proof of family ties to the Kellys, they immediately take custody of her.
Episode 10
Betrayed

After bringing Alana back to his house, Silverthorn tells Alana that he has a brain tumour, which she must cure with her Transducer if she wants to return to her own time. Realising Silverthorn has taken Alana, Irene and James take Jenny to see him. Silverthorn concocts an elaborate story about his troubled "daughter" Alana and even has Alana admit she has been lying all along. Only Jenny refuses to believe Silverthorn's explanation. Having successfully cured Silverthorne, Alana tries to return home only to find that Silverthorn has constructed a force field around the time capsule to prevent it from being used. The next morning, Alana spots Jenny watching the house and is able to smuggle her wrist computer PJ to Jenny by attaching it to a remote controlled car.
Episode 11
Captain Zero Strikes Again

Jenny takes PJ back to the deli where she shows her mother Alana's holographic message pleading for help. After showing the message to Mr Rooney, the three, with Petey secretly following along, break into Silverthorn's home. Following a desperate struggle, they rescue Alana and drive back to the deli with the time capsule strapped to the roof of the car.
Episode 12
Last Stand at Kelly Deli

With the time capsule set to automatically return to the year 3000 in mere moments, the family prepares for Alana to return home just as Silverthorn and Eddie arrive to try to recapture the capsule. The Kelly family tries to fortify the house so that Alana can make a safe departure in the capsule but Eddie crashes their car through the garage wall and the family is locked in the house while Silverthorn places another force field around the capsule to prevent it returning to the future. Having avoided capture, Petey helps his family escape allowing Alana to confront Silverthorn in front of the capsule. Using her Transducer, Alana turns Silverthorn's force fields against him, rendering him unconscious - but also injuring Jenny. Jenny is paralysed as a result and the only way she can be saved is to returns to the year 3000 with Alana and Silverthorn.
