24 Episodes 1987 - 1988
Episode 1
Sam and Kate are worrying for a woman named Sal Cleary, she acts a bit odd. They check it out and it turns out her daughter Julie is pregnant. She isn't married but still wants to keep the baby. The family wanted to pretend the baby was Sal's, so both she and Julie has to stay out of sight until the baby is born. At the birth there are some complications but everything goes well eventually and Geoff, Kate and Sam lets everybody think it was Sal's child. There is a political election between George Baxter and a man named Rob Dalton. George wins.
Episode 2
A man called Jim has a car-accident and goes to hospital. His wife, Carol, is acting a bit strange about it. Chris finds out she's dyslectic, but she refuses to admit it. Later her son drinks some medicine, she can't read the bottle and that way everybody finds out she can't read and write over the radio. Sam buys a horse from Carol, who is an extremely good rider, and Sam and Kate are practicing together for the big rodeo. Carol doesn't want to ride in the rodeo, she feels embarrassed, but she turns out anyway. There's a beer-strike and Hurtle makes some own beer. But suddenly the whole town starts acting really strange. Geoff finds out Hurtle has mixed the alcohol with caffeine, which causes personality changes.
Episode 3
A woman named Barbara Freeman finds out she's got a brain disease. It's hereditary, but her husband Robert won't tell their son Michael, he doesn't want him to worry. But Michael hears it anyway, and steals Baxter's airplane. The plane is grounded, and finally Jack manages to talk him down. DJ wants to start a disco to get the youngsters calm, they've caused lots of trouble. Jack lets him build a gym. Jack's boss Kevin has heard complaints about the youngsters and shows up. He decides to transfer Jack, but when he sees how Jack talked Michael down from the plane he changed his mind. Finally DJ gets his disco and celebrates with a huge party.
Episode 4
A rich man calls Nigel turns up in town. Due to an accident he ends up in hospital. He has got one glass eye, and a melanoma in the other one. He refuses an operation since that would make him completely blind and doesn't care what the others say. Finally Kate and a blind lady convinces him to have the operation. There's a cricket game between the Crossing and Windoona and Nigel manages to get a top national player to play for Coopers Crossing. Sam plays for Windoona, and finally it's him versus Emma - Emma wins and so does the Crossing!.
Episode 5
Jan, Phil and Zoe Buchanon are come to the Crossing to write some articles and takes some photos for a couple of articles. Both Jan and Phil falls down a cliff, which leaves little Zoe all alone. She moves in with Chris. Sam can't stay at the pub, the RFDS can't afford paying the bill anymore, they can only pay 60 dollars a week. Sam moves in with Violet, but then it turns out Vic and Nancy would have let Sam stay at the pub for those 60 dollars. This causes a huge fight between Violet and Nancy. Sam is waiting to see if he will get his permanency as a pilot of the RFDS,but when the letter comes it turns out he got another six month probation.
Episode 6
A young woman angers her father and brother when she reveals that she is pregnant. Chris and Father Jacko attempt to get Zoe sorted with an acceptable home.
Episode 7
Chris and Geoff suspect that a woman is a victim of domestic abuse but she is unwilling to accuse her husband of the crime. Meanwhile, Hurtle and DJ team up to make a video on how to survive in the outback. Chris begins to appreciate the problems associated with being a mother'to a teenage daughter.
Episode 8
Poachers cause trouble when they miss their target and shoot Father Jacko. Geoff is not as enraptured by a patient as the rest of the Crossing is. Chris tries to get Zoe to meet her real father.
Episode 9
A gang of hippies comes to town and causes friction with the locals. Chris grows to despise one of her patients who later dies. Geoff goes to Sydney but finds that he misses the outback and his friends in the Crossing.
Episode 10
There is excitement in Cooper's Crossing when a Bachelor and Spinsters night is held. Zoe is attracted to Glen, however she finds herself becoming jealous when it is clear he only has eyes for Chris. Meanwhile Glen goes to extreme lengths to get Chris' attention. DJ takes some time off to help organise the event and Barry, his temporary replacement, proves to be a stickler for the rules.
Episode 11
Sam gets seriously injured when the Cochrane brothers make their car explode in order to collect insurance money. Help is on the way, but Sam is getting worse and Dr. Standish is already exhausted from delivering a baby earlier on. Can Dr. Standish and Emma stay awake long enough to save his life?
Episode 12
Dougie gives a lift to a stranger and brings him to town, however it soon becomes apparent that the man's obsession with God and his incessant ramblings are not healthy. After having a chat with Father Jacko, and under going some medical tests, it emerges he is suffering from schizophrenia. Sam takes Emma to visit his parents but the visit does not go as smoothly as planned.
Episode 13
Chris and Zoe travel to Broken Hill to meet Zoe's dad. However, Zoe is not happy about Chris' attempts to reconcile them. Sam becomes jealous when a male friend from Sydney comes to visit Emma. Meanwhile, Emma is given an engagement ring. Zoe's father travels to Cooper's Crossing to be closer to his daughter.
Episode 14
Reg Hodges has finally found a piece of gold - but is it real?.
Episode 15
A novice pilot takes control of a plane when his instructor brother falls ill.
Episode 16
Violet wants to die when she finds out that her grandfather's father killed a lot of aborigines. However, Dougie helps her to put things into perspective when he comes to town suffering from appendicitis. Kate and Geoff ignore each other after he mentions that she once had a relationship with Baxter.
Episode 17
The raucous Cochrane brothers are back in town. Their mother almost dies and as a result they are set to inherit all her money and gold - if they can locate it. When Zoe moves with her father to Sydney, Chris struggles to cope with her latest loss.
Episode 18
Kate's friend Jessie returns to the Crossing after being away for five years. However the celebration soon comes to an end when it emerges Jessie has Multiple sclerosis. Emma and Sam decide that they should get married.
Episode 19
Journalist Karen Moley goes on the hunt for Hughie, a local mystery figure who no one has ever seen. She appears to solve the enigma but when Hughie's real identity is revealed, the whole town is surprised. Father Jacko gives Chris flying lessons when she decides there is more to life than work.
Episode 20
Violet leaves for a vacation. Sam and Emma make plans for their marriage with a bit too much help from Violet. Chris' father comes to visit her. Someone hurts her eye and Geoff takes care of her.
Episode 21
A carnival comes to Coopers Crossing and people get killed. The murderer seems to be a boy from the carnival. Chris' father starts to be in the way for Chris and the others.
Episode 22
Chris meets her father's girlfriend. George is desperate to purchase a farm but finds himself paying more than he bargained for.
Episode 23
A Greek family opens a new restaurant and Vic and Nancy are not pleased about the competition. However, when there's an outbreak of salmonella the new business hits hard times. On her way back from Bali, Violet has an encounter with the law when she's accused of being a drug smuggler. Emma goes looking for a wedding dress and DJ finds that relationships are not easy.
Episode 24
Sam and Emma get married. Chris misses the whole wedding when she's stuck on a farm in the outback with a sick child and the mother.
