In Ireland (both North and South) the land has always provoked a compelling fascination, perhaps because it has tortured us from the lack of it or driven us from the desire for it. Ultimately, The Field (Crá sa Chré) provides a timely, compelling snapshot of just how deadly an obsession with land can prove to be, and to uncover the reasons behind our obsession with land and the resultant effects on the individual, the family, and society as a whole. Each episode of the six-part series will be themed, using 19 real cases to explore what propelled protagonists and antagonists into unthinkable situations.
